Its a tiger face, full-on portrait, staring forward. Orange and yellow amber fur, grey shading on the muzzle and brow, green tinted eyes looking straight at you. The stripes are dense black satin columns that follow the facial contours, which is what makes the face look three-dimensional rather than flat. But then around the whole composition theres pink butterflies. Five of em, maybe six depending on the size, drifting in from the edges. Pink satin wings with grey underlay, tiny black antennae. It shouldnt work and it does.

I digitised the tiger face sections with directional fill to follow the fur growth, so the muzzle sits differently to the forehead, the cheeks fan outward. Four colour changes across 5 colours: yellow, orange, grey, pink, black. Stitch count runs 14k on the 3.5-inch and 31k on the 7.5-inch. Density is comfortable at 573 so this one runs clean on most machines without the speed-reduction drama you get on heavier designs.

People have been buying this one for valentines day gifts on tote bags, which I honestly didnt see coming when I first uploaded it. I also get orders last summer from women doing custom gym wear, the portrait carries the fierce but the butterflies keep it from being too aggressive. Email me if you want the butterflies in a different colour, I can guide you on thread substitutions without breaking the overall balance.

Stitch on cream, sand or white for the warmest result since the orange and amber tones read best on pale backgrounds. Black fabric also works and lets the eyes and pink butterflies carry the whole design. Add light tearaway firm woven cotton or canvas. Avoid anything too stretchy on the portrait section, the dense stripe stitching needs stable ground or you get wavy lines in the black columns.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Valentines day tote bag giftEmbroider the 5-inch size on a cream canvas tote as a valentines day gift, it photographs beautifully with natural light.
  • Womens gym bag or sports holdallStitch the 6-inch on a white or sand gym bag and the tiger face reads strong without being intimidating on everyday carry.
  • Feminine wildlife tee or sweatshirtPop the 5-inch on the front of a pale grey sweatshirt for a wildlife tee that leans feminine without being overly decorative.
  • Framed hoop art for a bedroomHoop the large 7.5-inch on cream linen and frame it in a 10-inch wooden hoop for a bedroom or studio wall piece.
  • Canvas makeup or cosmetics pouchUse the 4-inch size on a canvas cosmetics pouch, the butterflies add a lightness that works well on small accessory items.
  • Denim jacket back or sleeve panelRun the 5.5-inch on a denim jacket sleeve for a nature-themed custom jacket that stands out without a full back piece.
  • Custom cushion cover for a living roomCentre the medium size on a sand or cream cushion cover and the warm amber tones pick up room lighting really nicely.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
