Its a profile view, face turned slightly to the right, the big black afro puff sitting low and round behind the cap. The baseball cap is cobalt blue with that brighter cyan blue outline running the brim and the panel seams, 2 eyelets stitched in at the crown. The face underneath is a warm tan fill with a caramel mid-tone doing the cheek and jaw shading. A single gold hoop earring hangs at the ear, oval not circular, with a proper satin column that catches light when the piece is finished.

Red lips, kinda the focal point once you look down from the cap. There's a dark brown contour line for the nose and the mouth, which is what makes the face read from a distance. Ten colours total and nine stops, so its not a quick one-thread-through-lunch job, but the industry software digitising keeps the density sensible. On the 6.88 x 7.5 inch its 47,445 stitches and on the small 3.21 x 3.5 inch its 15,100.

A customer who runs a streetwear brand in chicago messaged me this past january asking for something to go on her team hoodies and this is the one she picked. She wanted something that felt like her brand without being a literal logo. Stitched it on black fleece and the cyan brim outline really sang against the dark ground. I get messages from boutique owners and custom apparel shops pretty regularly about this design.

Use cutaway stabiliser on every fabric for this one, the portrait has alot of density and tearaway wont keep it flat across the whole area. Reach out if the cyan stitching on the cap outline looks choppy and we can sort the thread tension settings together.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Streetwear brand hoodies and crewneck sweatshirtsStitch the 6.5-inch on the chest of a black fleece crewneck for a streetwear brand drop and it photographs really well against the dark ground.
  • Natural hair salon staff teesPop the 4.5-inch on a white tee for natural hair salon staff and it ties the brand look together without needing a printed logo.
  • Custom tote bags for black women-owned boutiquesRun the medium size on a duck-cloth tote for a boutique shop bag and customers keep em rather than throwing em away.
  • Back panel denim jacket art pieceUse the largest 6.88-inch on the denim shirt-jacket back as a standalone art piece, no other embroidery needed.
  • Pop-up market vendor apronsEmbroider the small 3-in motif on a black canvas apron front for a vendor at a handmade market or beauty fair.
  • Personalised birthday gift teesPlace a 5-in on a fitted white tee as a birthday gift for a customer who loves the aesthetic, personalise with a name below.
  • Beauty school branded uniform shirtsPut the chest-sized version on polo shirts for a beauty school cohort and use it as the class uniform identifier.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
