What I really liked about digitising this one is how the cup and the word sit as one shape. The big looping "Coffee" script in cream white satin runs right over the cup, the descenders of the double-f cutting down into the orange tatami fill below. Bold black outlines hold every edge clean. The cup holds swirling concentric segments in burnt orange, amber gold, and a strip of pale yellow near the base. Two steam wisps in matching orange and pale gold curl up behind the capital C. Its basically a cafe poster squeezed into a hoop.

Cutaway on anything with any stretch at all, tearaway works on tight woven cotton or canvas twill. Ive stitched this on a heavy linen tea towel and the satin columns on the script stayed crisp because linen doesnt distort under the bobbin tension the way jersey does. The 3.11 x 3.5 inch version at 6,817 stitches is the one to put on a mug rug or apron pocket, tidy without losing the retro cafe feel. Last week a woman who runs a kitchen-gifts market stall asked about customising this for her canvas tote bags, she said customers clock it immediately from across her table. The density sits at 384 stitches per cm so theres alot going on thread-wise, but the directional fill handles it without big jump stitches as long as you sort your stabiliser first.

Stitch with a medium-weight bobbin thread in cream underneath those white satin columns. Add a light topping over waffle-weave fabric so the tatami fill doesnt sink into the texture and lose the amber gradient. Skip hooping jersey too tight or you get puckering around the underlay once the piece relaxes off the hoop. Pop a firm cutaway under fleece corners and the concentric cup fill comes out sharp every time.

Message me anytime if your thread keeps breaking on the dense bits.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Canvas kitchen apronHonestly my favourite spot for this one is centred on a canvas apron bib where the bold black outlines really pop.
  • Cotton tea towelCotton tea towels in a woven weave take cutaway underneath the script columns so the satin doesnt pull loose.
  • Coffee bar table runnerA coffee bar table runner in natural canvas looks great with the 6.66 inch version running along one end edge.
  • Denim tote bagTote bags in dark denim make the cream white satin lettering read sharp from across a crowded market table.
  • Linen mug rugThe smallest size at 3.11 inches fits a linen mug rug without crowding, stitch it slightly off-centre for breathing room.
  • Fleece blanket cornerFleece blanket corners need a firm cutaway so the tatami fill doesnt distort the nap when the piece comes off the hoop.
  • Chef's hat brimPop it on a chef's hat brim with topping over the cotton twill to keep those satin columns from sinking into the weave.
  • Cafe uniform shirtCafe uniform polo shirts in jersey take the 3-inch version well with cutaway underlay to stop the script pulling at the seams.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
