Drew this one up as a simple coastal quote and the layout came together really naturally. The words sun and sea sit in chunky hand-lettered brush script in dark charcoal, with the ampersand tucked small between them. Behind the text a solid orange half-circle fills in as the sun, the rounded edge sitting above the letters so the script overlaps it. At the base two teal blue curves sweep side by side, giving just enough of a sea reference without overcomplicating the whole thing.

Four colours: dark charcoal for the lettering, solid orange-amber for the sun fill, teal for the double wave, and a lighter charcoal shadow behind the main script that adds depth. The brush lettering uses a dense satin underlay with a directional fill following each stroke so the thick and thin letterform contrast actually reads in thread. Each wave is a single narrow satin column. Density is low at 354 stitches per square inch, so this stitches out fast and sits softly on lighter fabrics without stiffening them.

Five sizes from 3.02 by 2.95 inches up to 7.02 by 6.86 inches. A customer who does custom beach wedding gifts ran the medium on cream linen tote bags last summer and said the orange sun colour photographed brilliantly against natural linen. Thats exactly the kind of feedback I like getting.

Works well on natural linen, light cotton canvas, muslin, pale terry cloth or cream denim. Skip black or very dark fabric, the charcoal script disappears. Avoid anything with a heavy weave texture on the small sizes because the thin satin curves are only a few stitches wide and can wander on rough surfaces.

Use a light to medium cutaway stabiliser and hoop the fabric taut. For the smallest size, float a layer of water-soluble topping if youre going onto textured linen so the wave satin doesnt sink into the weave and lose its shape. Send a note if the sun colour bleeds into the script overlap or the waves are pulling off-registration and Ill resend a corrected file.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
