A butterfly is sitting on a sunflower, wings open, like it just landed. The sunflower petals fan out around the centre and the wings spread wide across most of the bloom area. Its a big design, the small size is already 6.76 by 8 inches and the largest goes up to 8.45 by 10 inches, so this one was always going to be a statement piece on anything you put it on. Three thread colours total, and the shading gets done through directional stitching not through adding more colours.
Stitch count is high on this one: 42,528 stitches at the smallest and 55,102 at the largest. Density is 652. I hooped this on medium-weight cotton with cutaway stabiliser and the butterfly wing satin looked sharp. The underlay on the petal fills is set to give the satin a firm base so they dont curl at the edges. Use a tearaway topping if youre going on anything with a pile or texture.
I got an email last summer from a customer who stitched this on a garden apron in the largest size. She said it took about forty five minutes to run and she was gobsmacked by how it looked. Best on white or natural cream fabric because you want the 3 thread colours to do all the work without a dark base fighting them. Skip black or navy unless you want a moody contrast version. Add a cutaway backing and youre good.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
