The body is done almost entirely in outline, very minimal grey line work on the arms and torso, like a rough pencil sketch on natural linen. But the sunflower head is fully filled in, proper petals in golden yellow with those darker amber edges, and the centre is a tight-packed brown-black seed circle. The contrast is quite striking when its stitched out, this wispy sketched girl figure with a bold saturated floral where the face should be. Five thread colours total: bright yellow, golden amber, a warm tan-brown, grey, and black.

My daughter had this put on a linen tote last year for her uni room and honestly I nicked it off her to use as my own. Its that sort of design. Back it with a medium tearaway on woven cotton or linen and the outline sections will stitch crisp without pulling. Use a cutaway backing on any knit fabric to keep the grey outline threads from stretching. Stitch the 5-in size on an ivory tote bag and leave the design as the only detail. The grey body threads are light so fabric colour does bleed through slightly on the outline areas, which actually adds to the effect on cream or off-white. Ping me if youre having any trouble with the grey outlines lifting on stretch.

Eight sizes from 3.5 up to 7.01 inches, 5 thread colours, 11,004 stitches at the smallest and 25,217 at the top. The floral head is the high-density area, the sketched girl body stitches fast. Dont overthink the colour stops, theres only 4 changes total.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Linen tote bags and market shoppersThe 5-inch motif centred on a natural linen tote gives that editorial-poster look people love.
  • Summer dresses and blouse left chest placementPlace the 3 in mini on a shirt chest near the neckline for a subtle botanical accent.
  • Bedroom cushion covers with botanical themeStitch the 6-inch size onto a 45x45cm cushion cover in ivory or sage linen for a boho bedroom.
  • hoop-frame display for a boho or cottagecore roomHoop in a 6-inch or 7-inch wooden frame and hang as standalone botanical wall art.
  • Journal covers and fabric notebook wrapsStitch onto faux leather or thick canvas for a fabric journal cover that won't flatten out.
  • Baby girl room decor on muslin swaddlesThe smaller sizes work beautifully on muslin swaddle corners for a cottagecore nursery gift.
  • Tee shirts for teens and young adultsBright yellow pops against grey, black, or forest green jersey for a statement tee.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
