Heres a sunshine design that radiates warm energy. Its not a flat cartoony sun, theres a real gradient on the centre, soft cream up top melting into yellow, into deep orange near the bottom. Looks like the sun is actually catching light from a window.
The rays are what make it stand out for me. Theyre wavy and flame-like, spiralling outward instead of being straight pointy lines. Some run short and tight near the body, others stretch way out. Gives it that boho swirl feel without going overly busy.
I digitised it in my software last spring and ran alot of test sews before locking the file. The gradient body uses a careful colour blend across 6 thread shades to dodge harsh banding, and the wavy rays carry directional stitching so they catch light as you turn the hooped piece. Density sits around 794, dense enough for satin clarity but the cutaway stabiliser still wants to be heavy on knits.
One customer stitched the 7 inch size onto an oat linen apron for her sister last june and shes told me the orange just glowed against the natural base. Sand cotton, cream canvas, oatmeal jersey, all work. Skip pure white if youre choosing, the warmth gets washed out and the gradient depth dies. Skip patterned fabric too, the rays want a calm background.
Pop the larger sizes on tote bags and wall hoops where the ray detail reads. Use a tearaway only on woven canvas, otherwise stick with cutaway. Save the smaller sizes for back-of-tee or pocket hits, the silhouette still reads from across a room. Bug me on chat with photo if the rays pucker.
