Its a competitive swimmer caught mid-stroke, body nearly flat and parallel to the water line, head tucked just above the surface. The body is a solid near-black silhouette done in tight directional fills that run along the limb angles, so youre getting a sense of movement even on a static piece. The arm reaching forward cuts through a splay of electric blue water that forks out to the right, and the trailing arm pushes a second burst of spray behind. Brilliant two-colour contrast, dead simple but it reads as sport straight away.

Blue water areas use looser fill stitching than the body, which gives the splash zones a lighter, open texture. Small scattering of round droplets sit above the main splash in a loose arc, each one a tiny satin circle. Five sizes from 3.5 by 1.29 inches up to 7.5 by 2.75, so its a wide horizontal design. It sits well along the chest of a tee, across a towel border or on the front panel of a swim bag. Stitch count runs from 5,553 up to 13,941 at the largest, which stitches out fast for a sports design.

I sell a fair few of these to swim clubs and sports teams. One customer ordered ten navy microfibre towels last autumn and said the blue popped off the dark base better than any print option the club had tried before. Makes sense when you think about it: embroidery raises the stitch surface so the electric blue catches light at an angle prints never do. He came back for the matching swim bags too, which I think is the right call. Cobalt thread on the water, navy base, its a clean combo.

Back with mid-weight cutaway for stretch towelling or sports nylon, or a standard tearaway on woven canvas bags and flat cotton. Hoop the piece nice and taut on towelling or the horizontal pulls drag the body silhouette crooked. Pick a sharp needle for microfibre fabric. Avoid fluffy high-pile bath towels, the detail disappears into the loop. Hit the inbox if the water splash colour pulls off-register on your machine and Ill sort the jump sequence with you.

Stitch on navy or black swim team tees, microfibre sports towels, drawstring swim bags or polyester team jackets. White and pale blue base fabrics also work well since the black body contrasts cleanly. Skip mid-grey, it muddies the silhouette outline.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Swim club team towelsStitch the 7.5 motif along the border hem of a microfibre team towel so the swimmer faces outward when the towel hangs poolside
  • Competition swim bag front panelCentre the 5-inch on the front of a drawstring swim bag in navy for a clean club-branded carry that holds up through chlorine and repeated washing
  • Sports tee chest badge for swim teamsPlace the 4-inch on a tee chest for a swim team uniform that reads as sport from across the pool deck without going over the top
  • Swim school staff poloUse the medium size on swim school staff polos so coaches are easy to spot and the design ties into the pool environment
  • Sports water bottle carry pouchStitch the small size on a neoprene or polyester water bottle pouch for a gift that a competitive swimmer will actually use every day
  • Triathlon kit bag label patchPosition the 3.5 face on a kit bag strap tab or lid panel for a triathlon athlete who wants to mark their bag at busy transition zones
  • Kids swim lesson kit bagPop the 3.5 face on a kids drawstring kit bag so young swimmers can find their bag on a crowded changing room bench

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
