Its a t-rex skull, three-quarter side view with the jaw open just enough to show the tooth row. The eye socket and nasal cavity are filled in flat black satin and the contrast with the cream body fill is what makes the skull read instantly at any size. Seven colour regions handle the depth: a base bone fill, two or three shadow cream tones for the cheek and jaw panels, flat black fills in the eye and nasal cavities, and a dark outline that tracks the skull profile. The teeth are separate satin columns in off-white, each one defined individually rather than just a zigzag row.

Nine sizes, 3.51 to 7.51 inches wide, stitch counts from 17,922 up to 47,670. my software ran the density at 1,136, which sits in a good middle range for the skull fill sections, the coverage is solid without over-stiffening the fabric. I set the directional underlay in the bone regions to run perpendicular to the top fill so it doesnt look flat, it picks up slight shading from the direction change. Run this on a firm medium-to-heavy cutaway stabiliser, not tear-away, the socket fills and outline stitching need the backing locked down or the skull shape distorts. Avoid light interfacing entirely on this one. Keep the hooping taut and the wide jaw section wont bow mid-stitch.

Charcoal or black sweatshirt is the go-to fabric for this design and the cream thread on dark ground gives the skull an almost-printed look at arm length. Last October a customer stitched the 5 inch design on charcoal pullover and said people kept asking if it was a screen print, which is a nice result. Also does well on canvas totes, cap fronts, and kids backpack panels. The 7.51-inch version on a tote front gives you enough scale for the tooth detail to read clearly from a distance, each individual tooth is visible. Stitch the shadow fill tones before the black socket outlines or the depth layering doesnt read right.

The colour sequence is already in the correct build order in the file, bone fill first, shadow fills next, then the outlines, so you dont need to reorder anything in your machine software.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Sweatshirt or hoodie chest placementCharcoal sweatshirt at 5-6 inches chest placement is the most requested size, the bone cream on dark reads like a print.
  • Canvas tote or backpack panelA canvas tote at 7.51 inches centred on the front gives full skull scale with the tooth row clearly visible.
  • Cap front on a structured hatCap front needs the 3.51-inch file, the skull width at that size fits a standard structured cap panel.
  • Kids backpack or lunch bagKids backpack front pocket at 4 inches is a popular placement for the school bag crowd.
  • stretched hoop piece for a dinosaur-themed roomFramed in a 10-inch hoop the 7.51-inch version fills the display area and the directional bone fill shows at close range.
  • Black denim jacket back panelBlack denim jacket back at 7.51 inches centred gives a statement placement with the cream skull against the dark denim.
  • Throw pillow cover for a kids roomA throw pillow in charcoal fabric at 6-7 inches centred works in a dinosaur bedroom alongside plain dark cushions.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
