Big sunflower taking centre stage, petals fanned out in amber orange satin, seed head in a slightly deeper tone. Scattered around the outer edge of the petal ring there are school things: a red apple with a green leaf, a yellow pencil pointing down at an angle, a small black open book, what looks like an orange backpack, a silver paperclip. Dotted between them are tiny red hearts and small star accents that tie the whole arrangement together without it feeling cluttered.

6 colours across 5 colour changes, my software handled the density well, the sunflower petals are the heaviest element at 6,094 stitches but the fill is smooth and directional so it lays flat on cotton without much push. The tiny accent pieces like the paperclip and the book use fine satin columns that need steady hooping to sit clean, use a light cutaway under cotton and a topping of solvy on any textured fabric so the detail lines dont sink.

Only 3 sizes in this one: 3.46 by 3.49 inches at the smallest, up to 5.41 by 5.5 inches at the largest. The stitch range is 8,718 to 16,125 so even the big version wont stress a home machine. Use a mid-weight cutaway stabiliser and hoop firm on cotton. Stitch at mid-speed through the sunflower body, the satin columns want steady tension to sit flat. Pair with a solvy topping on textured fabric so the small outlines stay crisp. Skip tearaway on this one, the density is too high for it to tear cleanly.

Teachers buy this one a lot, sometimes for end-of-year gifts, sometimes they order it for themselves. One customer last june sewed the 5-in build on a tote bag as an end-of-year present for her daughter's teacher and said the teacher actually cried, which I thought was abit much but also kind of sweet. Message me if anything with the file doesnt work out and Ill fix it.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • teacher appreciation gift tote bagEmbroider the 5-in build on a kraft canvas tote and pair it with some nice tea bags for a teacher appreciation gift that feels personal
  • back-to-school teacher shirt or poloCentre the mid-size on a white or cream teacher polo for back-to-school week and it stays professional without being boring
  • end-of-year gift pouch or cosmetic bagStitch the smaller size on a zipper cosmetic bag for an end-of-year gift that a teacher will actually use every day
  • school library volunteer apronRun the 4-in run on an apron bib for a school library volunteer who needs something that says she belongs there
  • personalised teacher lunchbox or lunch bagPlace the small size on a fabric lunch bag panel before sewing it up so the design sits flush without a hoop mark
  • classroom decor hoop framed on a deskFrame the largest size in a 6-inch hoop and sit it on a classroom desk as a subtle piece of teacher decor
  • student gift to teacher on a canvas pouchHand the 3.5-in build on a drawstring pouch with a card from the class, the sunflower reads warm without needing a caption

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
