Cat mums know the feeling. December rolls around, or a birthday, and someone wants to gift the person who owns three actual cats and wont stop talking about em. Thats when this grey-and-ginger trio gets ordered. Three chubby little cats walking in a single row, tails all pointing straight up, each one wearing a red collar with a tiny gold bell. A grey tabby on the left, a calico in the middle, a ginger tabby on the right. Kinda just like a little parade of trouble.

The art style is cartoon-cute, almost kawaii, but its done with proper dense satin stitching so it holds up really well on fabric. The striped tabby markings use directional fill rather than flat colour, which gives em actual texture when you run your finger across it. Stitch counts go up to 18,587 on the largest size, so theres enough thread to get solid coverage on heavier fabrics like denim or canvas twill. I use industry digitising tools for the underlay work so the satin columns dont gap on stretchy knits. A buyer ordered this last month and stitched the ginger cat at 5 inches onto a cream linen tote, wrote me to say it looked realy like her actual cat, which honestly made my whole afternoon.

Stitch this onto a cotton twill apron and the colours pop like crazy. Lay a no-show cutaway under jersey or fleece because the density at the bigger sizes is high enough to drag the fabric without it. Skip the water-soluble topping unless your fabric has a heavy pile. Center the trio horizontally and give yourself about an inch of clear space above and below because the tails on the outer two cats read best when they have room. Pop the 3.5-inch version on a kids onesie chest and it sits perfectly without crowding the neckline, clean registration between all three cat bodies.

Get in touch and Ill split it for a smaller hoop.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Cat mum gift tote bagA buyer stitched all three at 5 inches onto a cream canvas tote, matched the cats by colour.
  • Kids sweatshirt frontNeeds a cutaway on stretchy sweatshirt fabric but the satin stripes read sharp even through a light topping.
  • Cotton canvas apronCotton twill takes the dense fill beautifully and the red collar pops against a natural or sage apron.
  • Pet shop uniformAt 3.5 inches it sits neatly on a polo chest without crowding the placket or pulling the fabric.
  • Nursery wall hoopFrame the 7.5-inch version inside a wooden hoop on cream linen, the three cats fill the space just right.
  • Fleece blanket cornerTry the largest size on a charcoal fleece corner, the ginger and calico colours show up well on dark backgrounds.
  • Denim jacket back panelPair with a cutaway backing and center the row across the back yoke for a fun statement piece.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
