A single palm tree drawn clean and tall, fronds arching outward in both directions like its stretching after a long night. Behind it theres a semicircular sunrise shape, the kind of simple arc you see on vintage travel posters from the 60s. A thin horizon line sits at the base where the trunk meets the ground. Three colours only: a deep green for the palm, warm amber orange for the sunrise disc, and a pale cream or white fill for the sky zone above the horizon. Simple composition, nothing crowded.

Density is set at 372 which is on the lighter side intentionally. professional embroidery software handled the underlay so the satin fill on the palm fronds follows the natural leaf angle rather than sitting flat across. Four sizes: the smallest at 3.42 inches with 7,924 stitches, the largest reaching 5.98 inches and 15,571 stitches. Use a soft cutaway stabiliser on lighter fabrics. A customer messaged me saying she stitched this onto the pocket of a linen resort shirt and it came out cleaner than she expected because of the low density on the palm fill sections.

Stitch it on a linen shirt pocket, add it to a canvas holiday bag, run it on a beach coverup bodice. Avoid stretchy fabrics because that baseline and fine frond tips need a firm base. Hoop your stabiliser square with the grain or those frond tips will pull sideways. Dont rush the test stitch on the narrowest frond points at smaller sizes. Its worth the two minutes. The amber orange looks great against both white and natural linen colours.

Pick the 5.98-inch size for bags and jackets, go smaller for garment chest pockets. Send me a note if the sizing doesn't match your hoop and I'll advise which size fits best.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Linen resort shirts with a pocket-sized palm tree motifHoop a linen shirt pocket with a medium soft cutaway stabiliser backing to keep the fine frond tips from pulling at the lightweight weave.
  • Canvas holiday bags and beach tote frontsUse the 5.98-inch size on canvas tote bag fronts with a firm cutaway so the horizon line stitches crisp and straight across the panel.
  • Beach coverup bodice panels for a tropical resort lookBack cotton coverup bodice panels with a tearaway stabiliser and press the fabric flat before hooping to keep the satin sections clean.
  • Cotton tea towels with a holiday scene on the cornerRun the design on pre-washed cotton tea towels using a lightweight cutaway and match the bobbin thread to the cream fill for a neat reverse side.
  • Kids summer wardrobe tees and short setsUse the 3.42-inch size on kids tee chest panels with a soft tearaway and a topping film layer to stop the fine frond tips dropping into jersey loops.
  • Framed linen wall art for a tropical-themed guest roomStitch on stretched linen over an embroidery frame for wall art, mount in a hoop or clip frame for a simple holiday bedroom accent.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
