Three colours build out this unicorn and a heart combination, running 9,160 stitches on the small hoop, climbing to 23,062 on the 7.51 inch size. White body, pink mane and a gold horn, the heart incorporated into the design in a way that doesnt feel forced. The cartoon proportions are rounded and sweet, the kind of character that works on kids items without looking babyish, meaning a 7-year-old would be as happy wearing it as a 3-year-old. Density sits at 425, comfortable for mid-weight cotton and light knits.

Use a polymesh backer on cotton fabrics, and on stretchy jersey use a soft tearaway layered with a light cutaway to stop any pull on the outline stitches. Ive done this on a pale pink sweatshirt at the 5 inch size and the three colours popped cleanly, no bleed, no registration issues. The unicorn body needs a proper underlay otherwise it tends to look grey on anything but a pure white ground, so dont skip that step on coloured fabrics. Run the bobbin in a matching white or neutral and youre set.

My niece asked for this on her valentines day sweatshirt last year and honestly the 5 inch chest placement was spot on for her age. The unicorn faces forward enough that it reads well centred on a shirt without needing any framing text around it. A customer ordered a set of 4 inch iron-on patches for a kids party favour pack and said the dense satin on the horn especially looked brilliant even at the small size.

Stitch the 4-inch run on a canvas pouch or small backpack front panel. Use the 3.51 inch size on a kids apron for a Valentine baking outfit. Add this to a pillowcase for a Valentine sleepover gift set. Pair with a light or pastel ground fabric so all 3 colours show up clearly. Best avoid very bright or highly saturated backgrounds where the white body disappears into the fabric colour.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
