Pulled this one together for all the cat people who want something a lil more fun than a standard flag design for the fourth. Its three tabbies arranged around the letters U, S, A with each cat wearing its own party hat, and honestly it kinda just makes people smile when they see it, which is the whole point.

The design runs really wide compared to its height, so its built for horizontal placement on sleeves, pocket areas, or across the chest of a kid shirt. At the 7-inch wide size youre looking at 13,789 stitches across 7 colour threads: White, Blue, Red, Grey, Pink, Aqua, and Black in that sequence. The smaller sizes scale proportionally down to 7,612 at the 4-inch wide version. Because the proportions are landscape you need a hoop thats wider than it is tall, a standard 5x7 frame works fine for the mid sizes.

Seven colours sounds like alot but the sequence is only 6 stops total. Use tearaway on most wovens, the density is a moderate 670 per square inch so it releases cleanly. Use cutaway on stretch knit so the letters dont distort between the star shapes. Lay tearaway topping on minky and the whisker outlines stay sharp. Stitch at 5 inches on a kids tee front and it fills the chest without crowding the collar.

One customer wanted this digitising across the front of a kids denim jacket last fourth of july and she messaged me to say it stitched out clean on the first hoop, no re-runs needed. And I get a bunch of orders every May and early June from people doing July themed cat lover gift sets, which makes sense timing-wise. Reach out if you run into any issues with your download.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids 4th of July shirts and onesiesThe wide landscape orientation works perfectly for a chest stripe on a toddler or kids size shirt using a 5x7 hoop
  • Cat lover gift items like pouches and tote bagsNatural canvas zippered pouches show the 7 colour mix well, especially the red letter against light fabric
  • Horizontal chest placement on adult sweatshirtsBest result was at 6 inches on a banner panel for a july party wall display
  • July-themed pet bandanas and collar accessoriesSmall pet bandanas can take the 4-inch version across the triangular front panel
  • Holiday kitchen towels and apronsWhite linen tea towels let the red U, blue S, red A really pop without competing with the background
  • Craft fair vendor aprons and totesVendor apron pocket area works for the 5-inch version with a standard 5x5 or 6x6 hoop
  • Scrapbook fabric patch or iron-on badge baseFelt or wool patches need a topping layer to keep the cat outline stitches from sinking into the nap

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
