Sketched this one out as a pure butterfly version because I already had the butterfly-and-flowers heart and wanted something cleaner. Looks best on white cotton or cream canvas. Just red butterflies. No flowers, no filler shapes, no mixed elements. The heart form comes from how the butterflies cluster along the outer edge and the centre stays slightly more open so the silhouette reads clearly from a distance. All solid red, not a single colour change the whole way through.
Each butterfly is a full satin-fill silhouette, wings closed symmetrically with a fine body line down the centre. The outer ring of butterflies sits denser, the ones toward the middle have a bit more room between them which creates visual depth, makes it look like theyre all flying inward. Density sits at 561 per square inch, biggest size tops out around 26k stitches. Thats on the heavier side so budget maybe 25-30 minutes on a standard home machine for the large.
Ive been selling this alongside the flower version and they do quite different jobs. Customers who want something strictly romantic without the garden feel tend to go for this one. One customer texted me last valentines saying she stitched it on a white tee and her partner didnt realise it was handmade until she told him, which I thought was a pretty good sign. 5 sizes from 2.98 by 3.49 inches up to 6.38 by 7.5.
Pick a pale background so the solid red stands out. White or cream cotton, ivory canvas, pale grey fleece. Avoid reds or pinks, the butterflies will blend into the background. Use a medium to firm cutaway stabiliser and hoop tight. Skip any stretchy knit unless youre floating on a cutaway because the density will distort a loose weave. Try a light topping on velvet if you want to keep the wing edges crisp.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
