Pulled together this butterfly and heart combination for customers looking for something with a bit more life than a plain heart. The red hearts have long calligraphy ribbon tails on em, real flowing decorative style, kinda like the hearts are trailing silk ribbons. Then 6 black butterfly silhouettes float around the outside at different angles like theyre attracted to the whole arrangement.

Two colours only, red and black. The hearts and their tails are all red satin fill, the butterflies are solid black satin. Youre doing 1 colour change at the machine. Density sits at 365 which is moderate, hoops up cleanly on cotton, linen and light denim. Use a medium weight tearaway stabiliser on woven fabrics, cutaway behind any stretch knit.

5 sizes from 3.45 by 3.5 inches up to 7.4 by 7.49 inches, pretty close to square at all sizes which is kinda nice because it centres well on a round hoop or a shirt front without feeling lopsided. Stitch count 7,230 to 20,211. Pair it on any light neutral fabric and the 2 colour contrast shows at its best.

I really like how this looks on cream or oatmeal fabric, the black butterflies get a softness against a warm neutral that you dont get on white. My daughter asked me to put the 5-in size for her valentines day tote last february and honestly it came out gorgeous. The butterflies make it wearable year round without screaming valentines which is what alot of customers really want. Skip busy patterned fabrics, the detail gets lost on anything that isnt fairly plain.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Valentines day tote bagsThe 5-in centred on printed-fabric tote makes a valentines day bag that works year round without looking seasonal.
  • Romantic bedroom pillow coversCentred on a cream pillow cover the design has a romantic garden feel that suits a bedroom all year long.
  • Womens valentines day shirtsA medium size on the chest of a white or oatmeal womens tee is understated and genuinely pretty.
  • Cream linen table runnersStitched along a linen table runner as a repeating motif it creates a romantic dinner table decoration.
  • Anniversary gift framed hoopsThe largest size in a big wooden hoop makes a beautiful framed anniversary gift that looks handmade.
  • Garden party tote accentsFor a garden party the butterfly element keeps it seasonal even after valentines day has passed.
  • Bridesmaid getting ready bagsSmall version on a zippered pouch makes a lovely bridesmaid bag insert or getting ready day bag accent.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
