This is a cascade of small hearts tumbling downward in a loose vertical column, the kind of design thats great specifically because of its shape. Most heart designs are wide, this one is tall and narrow, so it fits in spots that a lot of other designs cant go: sleeve seams, trouser leg side panels, the long side of a scarf or table runner.

One colour, just red, single thread from start to finish. No colour changes at all, which keeps the stitch count low and the stitching time short. Largest size at 7.5 inches tall and 3.27 inches wide comes in at around 12,257 stitches, smallest is just under four thousand. Ive done the hearts with a satin fill so they sit smooth and slightly raised off the fabric, not flat like a simple running stitch would give you.

I get a bunch of customers using this for valentines day sleeve placement on kids sweatshirts, one customer last february did a whole class worth of shirts with this down the sleeve and said the kids were absolutely obsessed. Ya cant really go wrong with falling hearts on a white jersey sweatshirt for a 7 year old. Works like a charm every time.

Back woven cotton or denim with tearaway, cutaway for jersey or fleece. Hoop carefully because the design is tall and any hoop rotation will throw off the vertical line. Stitch on white, cream, light blue or navy for a clean red pop. The 5 inch and 7.5 inch sizes work brilliant down a sleeve, the 3.5 baseline fits nicely on a cuff or pocket.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids valentines sweatshirt sleevesthe 7.5 run down the sleeve of a plain sweatshirt makes a sweet valentines kids outfit with minimal effort.
  • Scarf or table runner edgeA repeated placement along the edge of a cotton or linen table runner adds a romantic valentines table setting touch.
  • Sleeve panel on womens blouseThe narrow vertical format fits cleanly along the sleeve panel of a blouse without competing with the main fabric pattern.
  • Trouser leg side accentStitch it down the side seam of light trousers or leggings for a unique valentines day fashion accent.
  • Tote handle area decorationUse a smaller 3.5 inch version near the handle attachment of a canvas tote for a subtle but sweet seasonal detail.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
