Its a gnome, the round-bodied kind with the giant pointy hat and tiny feet sticking out the bottom, holding a fistful of heart-shaped balloons on string. 8 colours in here, a neutral grey for the hat, warm skin tones for the small face peeking out, red and pink for the heart balloons, boots in a tan or brown, and a couple more colours filling in the gnome body and clothing layers. The hat section alone has 3 colour transitions from brim to tip so the shading on the pointy cone doesnt look flat. Density sits around 807, which keeps the string lines and face detail sharp while still giving the figure solid fill coverage without thin spots in the clothing sections.
Four sizes from 5.5 inches wide up to 8.5 inches. Stitch counts start at 26,925 and top out at 46,362 at the large size. Theres no small size in this set because the face and balloon detail simply dont read below 5 inches, and I wont digitise a design for a size where the detail falls apart. Good firm cutaway stabiliser is non-negotiable here given the stitch count. One customer ran the 8.5-in run for a sweatshirt last February and sent the picture, said she couldnt believe how clean the balloon strings looked at that scale.
This sits well on sweatshirt fleece or mid-weight quilting cotton. Best approach on fleece is to float the fabric over hooped cutaway rather than hooping the fleece directly, that keeps the nap from getting crushed in the hoop rings. Run it at 70 percent speed through the hat shading and the heart sections where stitches concentrate.
