Heres the valentine gnome and hes a proper cuddly little fella. Long pointy crimson hat flopping over to one side, almost covering the eyes, fluffy off-white beard taking up half his body. Tiny pink nose peeking out the top of the beard. In his stubby arms hes holding a fat bouquet of red and burgundy roses with sage foliage wrapping around the stems.

Thirteen colours total and most go into the hat shading plus the bouquet. The hat uses crimson plus a touch of burgundy for shadow folds, the beard uses three off-white tones to give it a fluffy directional look, and rose petals layer crimson over deep red so each bloom has actual depth, not just flat circles. Sage green leaves tuck behind the bouquet and a soft brown shows on the tiny boots peeking under the beard.

I get messages every January about this gnome, hes one of the most-asked-for valentine pieces I sell. One customer last february ordered the 6.6-inch version for a market-stall apron and she sent photos back, the burgundy roses popped beautifully against the natural linen. Big sizes hit nearly 78k stitches on the 7.5-inch hoop so its a meaty design, smallest sits at 32k.

Stitch on cream, oat, soft pink or pale grey for best read. Burgundy roses sing against natural linen, and a sage green tee will make the gnome feel almost folksy. Skip dark red or black fabric here, the crimson hat will vanish straight into deep red and the rose detail gets lost. Avoid stretchy jersey on the largest sizes aswell, beard density will pucker the knit.

The beard and hat sections are where most stitches live so lock down with a heavy cutaway stabiliser, fusible if youre doing tee fabric. Hoop firm, sequence beard whites first then crimson hat then roses, save the dark outline for last. If file dont load right on your machine just send message and Ill have a clean version back to you fast.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
