Worked up this design for the customer who wants something bold but ya know, not just another plain red heart. The whole thing is constructed from individual lip shapes, each one a separate satin-fill kiss print, and they stack and overlap to form the heart outline. Theres 4 colour stops and 3 colour changes, so it runs clean without a bunch of thread swaps slowing you down.

The 4 colours are a dark crimson, a straight bright red, a deep magenta-purple tone, and a lil light blush pink. the software I use built the digitising and the density sits at 764 which gives each lip shape a smooth satin surface without being so dense it stiffens up a shirt. Stitch counts run from 10,203 at the smallest 2.51-inch size up to 36,607 at the full 7.51 inches, so pick your size based on the project.

Use a light to medium cutaway stabiliser on knit or jersey fabric. Skip topping on flat woven cotton or a canvas bag, tearaway works fine there. If youre going on a linen or loosely woven fabric, add a thin film layer so the lip edges stay crisp and dont sink into the texture. A customer ordered the 3-inch version and hooped it on a natural linen pouch, came out really clean. Six sizes in this one so theres a lot of flexibility.

Best on white or cream fabric where all 4 lip colours read properly. Works on black fabric too if you swap the dark crimson for a slightly lighter red so it doesnt disappear into the background. Pair it with a red or pink satin thread on a dark sweatshirt for a nice contrast. Skip sheer fabrics, the underlay wont anchor right. Ping me if a size runs off your hoop boundaries and I can check the file.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Valentine's Day t-shirts and crop topsThe 4-5 inch sizes work well as a chest or front graphic on a fitted tee; white or pale pink fabric makes the 4 lip colours pop best
  • Tote bags and canvas pouches for FebruaryNatural canvas or cream tote bags at the 5-6 inch size give a bold Valentine's statement without looking too small
  • Throw pillow covers with a bold graphic lookA 5-inch run sized on a 16x16 pillow cover stitches out fast with only 3 colour changes and looks graphic and bold
  • Baby bodysuits and toddler shirtsThe 2.51-inch smallest size fits a onesie chest panel without crowding; use a light tearaway under the knit
  • Makeup bags and zip cosmetic casesThe compact 2.5-3 inch range sits nicely on a cosmetic bag front without the design wrapping around edges
  • Denim jacket back panels or sleeve patchesThe 6-7 inch range fills a back panel on a denim jacket with real presence; use heavy cutaway stabiliser for denim
  • Sweatshirts and hoodies for teens and adultsThe 7.51-inch large version on a sweatshirt front is a statement piece for February; medium cutaway keeps the weight even

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
