This one came together as a proper valentine piece, not just a heart with a unicorn tacked on. Its a unicorn head in profile, eyes closed with those long swoopy lashes, and the mane is these big curling waves in dark red and crimson. The horn is striped in pastel shades. Around the head theres a whole bunch of floating hearts, some solid red, some pink, some light pink outline-only, all at different sizes so it looks like theyre drifting. The whole composition is busy in a good way, very romantic and lil bit dreamy.

my main software output this at density of 808 spi, that translates to deliberately lower than my usual animal designs to keep the satin in the flowing mane sections soft and fabric-like rather than stiff. 11 colours total: white, pink, dark red, two pale pinks, black, two deep reds, peach-orange, red and orange. The colour changes number 15 across the design because the hearts layer in multiple passes. Smallest hoop is 3.51 inches at 20,556 stitches, largest is 7.51 inches at 45,440 stitches. Use a firm cutaway stabiliser, the mane fill stitches run at curved angles and need proper support underneath or the satin sections shift during hooping.

The low density is suprising to some people when they first load the file, but thats intentional. The mane reads as flowing fabric not flat fill, and the hearts have a soft look that suits the romantic style. One customer told me they ran it on blush pink quilting cotton and the whole thing looked like a printed card, the dark red mane against the pink ground was realy something. Stitch it out on white cotton first to check bobbin tension before going onto your final fabric. On ivory or cream the peach and pink tones in the face and mane show up more warmly.

Great for February projects but honestly looks good year-round on pink or white fabric. Best stitched on quilting cotton or a smooth medium-weight woven with medium cutaway backing. Pair with a contrasting bright red thread on nearby project details to tie the palette together.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Girls bedroom cushion covers in pink or white fabricPink or ivory cushion fabric lets the dark red and crimson mane stand out beautifully
  • Kids T-shirts and sweatshirts for FebruaryThe 3.5-in chest option fits a standard child tee chest placement without a jumbo hoop
  • Fabric greeting cards and keepsake hoopsHooped in a 8-inch ring and mounted on card it reads as a framed art piece
  • Baby shower gifts for unicorn-themed nurseriesSoft density and dreamy palette suits a nursery project without being overly bold
  • Quilting projects as a centrepiece blockThe roughly square composition drops cleanly into a standard quilt block layout
  • Zip pouches and makeup bags for teensAt mid-range sizes it fills a zip pouch face without overlapping the zip seam

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
