Sixteen colours and a density of 1,397 on this T-rex, so its not a quick stitch. Youre looking at 32,463 stitches at the small 3.31-inch wide end and 74,191 on the full 7.08-inch version. Thats one of the higher counts in the catalog and it shows in the finished result: this dino has actual scale texture across the body, not just flat fill. The roaring jaw is open wide, teeth in white satin, red gum detail inside the mouth, and the skin tones cycle through electric teal, lime green, vivid yellow, deep orange, and cobalt blue with dark brown outlining the whole shape.

I mapped this in my workhorse software and spent a while getting the directional satin on the scale rows to angle correctly so they catch light differently from each section. The result is a T-rex that looks almost three-dimensional once its stitched, especially on a dark base fabric. One customer ordered the 6-inch version last autumn and stitched it on a black sweatshirt and the teal and lime just lit up. Press a heavy cutaway before hooping any knit, fleece, or sweatshirt, you really need it at this density.

Use polymesh stabiliser on stretch fabrics, sturdy poly cutaway on canvas or structured woven. Pop wash-away topping on any textured surface so the scale satin sits flat. Avoid lightweight fabrics on the larger sizes, the 74,000-stitch count will distort thin cotton without adequate backing. Best on medium to heavy weight material.

Stitch the large version on a denim back placement, kids backpack front, or sweatshirt chest for full impact. Run the 3.31-inch small version on a pocket or cap brim where space is tight. Pick the 5-inch mid version for tote bag placement and give the design space to breathe on the panel.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kids sweatshirts and hoodies chest designBold scale texture and roaring jaw on a kids dark hoodie chest is the kind of design that gets noticed at school.
  • Denim jacket back panel statement pieceFull 7-inch version on a denim back placement panel is a showstopping piece for dinosaur enthusiasts of any age.
  • Backpack and school bag front panelThe 5-in build for a backpack front panel reads clearly and the vivid colours hold up through heavy use.
  • Dinosaur-themed bedroom cushion coverDinosaur bedroom cushion with the 6-inch T-rex centred on a dark cover looks like a proper kids decor statement.
  • Baseball cap front panelThe 3.31-inch size on a baseball cap front fits the narrow panel width without crowding the edges.
  • Canvas tote bag bold graphic designOn a canvas tote bag the 16-colour vibrant tones make it look like a screen-printed graphic rather than embroidery.
  • Boys birthday party favour bagsSmall 3.5-inch pouches or favour bags stitched for a dinosaur birthday party theme are a customer favourite.
  • Iron-on patches for denim and canvasDense satin on canvas or denim makes a clean iron-on patch alternative that survives washing reliably.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
