A big watermelon slice sits at the centre, the classic triangular cut with the red fruit fill, a pale white rind, and a thick grass green outer edge. Black seeds scatter across the red section in the natural random way, not lined up or symmetrical. Above it, a small rainbow arc curves upward in three bands: red, yellow, and blue. A summer phrase runs across the fruit face in a clean white inline text that reads against the red without needing a separate outline. Six colours in a flat graphic style that reads loud and clear from a metre away.
Density is 415 and the watermelon red fill uses a horizontal satin column which is how professional tools laid the path to maintain even thread coverage through all five sizes. Five sizes from 2.95 inches wide at 7,412 stitches up to 6.88 inches and 19,996 stitches. Back it with a medium cutaway stabiliser for most fabrics. A customer stitched the 6.88-inch version on a white cotton apron bib last july and wrote to say kids at her daughters birthday party thought it was an iron-on patch. Thats a compliment I'll take.
Stitch it on an apron front, add it to a kids tee chest panel, run it on a reusable shopping bag for a summer picnic look. Its also solid on linen bread bags and picnic napkins. The white text reads best on a red or bright base, dont try it on white fabric without swapping the text shade. Hoop firm so the horizontal fill passes stay steady.
Best on woven cotton and canvas. Dont skip the test stitch on the rainbow arc section because the three narrow bands sit close and need accurate tension to stop the edges merging into each other mid-stitch. Youre aiming for clean separation on each of those colour lines.
