Sketched this layout as a packed oval composition where none of the letters line up in a straight row, they tumble and overlap slightly like a retro school poster from the 80s. The 'Welcome' at the top is in a flowing script, then 'BACK TO SCHOOL' below it in those big blocky satin-fill bubble letters that each get their own colour. Nine colours total: Red, Black, Orange, Purple, Pink, Green, Blue, a second Orange pass, and Yellow. Eight colour changes, 9 stops, and 44 trims on the smallest hoop. I get messages asking if you can drop the colour count and honestly you can swap 2 or 3 of the mid-tones to a neutral without losing the overall pop. Its more flexible than it looks.
Density is 531 on this one, lower than most multi-colour school designs, which means the satin blocks arent stiff when the design lands on jersey or a poly-cotton blend. Stitch count runs from 10,058 at 3.18 inches up to 27,140 at 6.82 inches wide. One customer ran the 6-inch on a stretch canvas this past september and mounted it as wall art for a school entrance hallway, and said teachers kept stopping to look at it on their way in. Dont skip the topping on this one if youre hooping a textured weave, thats what keeps the bubble fill edges clean. Use a medium cutaway on jersey knit and tearaway on firm cotton. Pop me a note if the nine-colour thread list feels overwhelming.
The 6-inch is what youll want for a library banner or a classroom display board fabric panel. Five sizes total in the download. Mapped through professional tools. The bubble letter fills are sequenced by colour zone so the bobbin thread stays consistent within each pass.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

- Kids backpack front panel for the first day of schoolThe 4-inch on a canvas backpack front with cutaway holds up to daily use through the school year.
- Cotton or jersey tee shirt front for a back-to-school photoHoop a jersey tee at centre front with the 3.5-inch file and medium cutaway; density 531 keeps it soft against skin.
- Reusable cotton gift bag for a school supply bundleSew the 4-in on a natural cotton gift bag with tearaway for a cheerful first-day school supply wrap.
- Canvas storage bin label for classroom organisationThe 3.2-inch on a fabric-wrapped storage bin side panel with cutaway functions as a readable label from across the room.
- Kindergarten keepsake pillow cover for first-school-year memoriesThe 4-inch on a white cotton pillow cover becomes a keepsake piece a parent keeps after kindergarten.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
