Six colours in this one, which for a cow skull design is actually quite restrained. Alot of western skull designs go overboard with the florals but this one keeps the heart and cactus elements as supporting cast, not the main show. Eight sizes from 3.5 to 7 in jumbo but the heights only go from 1.11 to 2.36 inches so its a very wide flat design. Density is 152 which is high, so this stitches out dense and solid. Apply firm cutaway anything that isnt a very firm woven fabric.

Stitch count runs from 7,616 at the smallest all the way to 17,355 at the 7.5 inch. Thats abit heavier than you might expect for the height dimension, the skull and cactus sections have real depth in the satin columns. The bobbin tension matters here, keep it consistent through all 6 colour changes or the top thread can pull unevenly on the wider fill sections. I actually had a customer try this on a shirt yoke last spring and the flat horizontal orientation lined up perfectly along the seam.

Pair it along a denim jacket yoke seam, across a shirt collar back, or as a border strip on a tote bag top edge. The short height is actually what makes it versatile. Use it as a single centrepiece on a wide canvas strip or repeat the 4 inch version twice across a 12 inch fabric panel.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • denim jacket yoke bandThe 6 inch along a denim jacket yoke is a classic western placement, cutaway stabiliser on the denim.
  • western shirt collar backStitch the 4 inch across a shirt collar back on woven cotton, tearaway stabiliser works fine here.
  • tote bag top edge stripThe 7.5 inch as a top border strip on a canvas tote looks great, canvas handles the density 152 well.
  • fabric belt panelA 3.5 inch centred on a fabric belt panel, stabilise the belt interlining before hooping.
  • canvas table runner borderThe 5 inch repeated every 8 inches along a linen table runner edge, use tearaway on the linen.
  • western valentines day sweatshirt yokeThe 7 inch across the sweatshirt yoke below the neckline, medium cutaway and topping on fleece.
  • cowboy boot topper fabric cuffStitch the chest 3.5 in on a fabric cuff that attaches to boot tops, tearaway on the woven canvas.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
