Worked up this witch cauldron piece and the swirling smoke is what carries it. A round black cast iron pot sits low, two handle loops on the sides, the body shaded with hatched line work that makes the metal look properly heavy. Out of the top of the pot curling smoke rises in long wisps, alternating green and purple as it twists upward, with little orb bubbles and sparkle dots floating around the curls.

Six threads keep the colour list manageable for a piece thats this detailed. So the bulk of the stitch count, around 13 thousand on the smallest size, goes into that black cauldron body alone with all its hatched shading. Theres about equal apple green and rich purple work in the smoke and the off white highlights catch the curve of the bubbles so theyll read as round not flat.

Holler at me through the shop if you wanna recolour the smoke, last week a customer asked for orange and blue versions for a different themed shop. But the standard colour combo on the smoke is what im always recommending because they read clearly even from a distance.

5 sizes from 3.06 inches wide up to 6.55 inches wide, taller than wide cause the smoke curls extend the height past the cauldron itself. Smallest works as a chest pocket piece, biggest centred on a tote bag or sweatshirt panel. Skip anything under 3 inches cause the bubble sparkles will mush together.

Stitch on cream cotton, dusty pink linen, navy denim, charcoal fleece, or any midweight light coloured fabric where the bright tones will pop. And use a medium cutaway behind anything stretchy. Slow the machine down through the long satin smoke wisps so they lay flat without bunching at the curve. Holler at me with a chat if the file misbehaves and Ill sort it.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Halloween apron frontsHalloween apron bib in black canvas centred, the green and purple smoke fills the chest area and reads from across the kitchen.
  • Witchy kitchen tea towelsWitchy kitchen tea towel in cream cotton for october baking nights and halloween dinner parties, wraps beautifully as a gift.
  • Spooky season tote bagsSatin label strip sewn into the lining of a costume cape, hidden detail that only the wearer finds when they check the inner seam.
  • Black hoodie chest piecesLeft chest of a black hoodie at 3.5 inches, subtle enough for everyday october wear without reading as a full halloween costume.
  • Cream linen pillow coversSweatshirt sleeve at the smaller size for someone who wants a witchy accent that doesnt take over the whole front panel.
  • Sweatshirt sleeve accentsCream linen pillow cover at the largest size, the cauldron smoke curls up toward the pillow edge and gives it movement.
  • Costume cape lining patchesCosmetic pouch for a halloween makeup artist or face painter working events, the cauldron is a perfect kit mascot.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
