What makes this design work is the proportion. Thats the witch hat in purple, genuinely oversized relative to the cat, brim almost as wide as the cat body is tall and the pointed crown taking up the whole top third. The black cat sits in a classic upright pose with its tail curled round to one side and those lil whisker lines fanning out from the face. Black body, black tail, the hat all purple. 2 colours, 1 colour change, stitches fast.

Black runs first for the kitty shape at 2,157 stitches in the smallest size, then purple handles the hat at 962. Smallest version is 1.44 wide by 2.01 inches tall, the largest is 2.52 by 3.51 inches with 6,337 stitches. Hoop with a medium cutaway stabiliser behind knit fabrics, body density is 553, its solid enough to need proper support. On woven cotton the fill holds flat with just a firm tearaway. Pop a topping on any textured fabric so the whisker lines stitch clean and dont sink.

Ive sold a bunch of em for halloween costume accessories, kids trick-or-treat bag fronts. One customer stitched 8 copies across a halloween table runner in different purple colourways last season and said it looked like a proper manufactured textile rather than a home stitch project. Folks use it year-round on the cat angle aswell since the outline reads as a cute character regardless of what month it is. Use it on felt for a fast no-sew ornament, its a winner for the cat owners on yer list.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • kids Halloween costume front chestAt 2.5 inches on the chest of a kids black tee the purple hat pops off the fabric with real contrast.
  • trick-or-treat canvas bagsThe small 1.5-inch version repeated across a canvas bag handle strap looks like a custom print.
  • Halloween table runner repeating patternEight copies in alternating colourways across a table runner creates a Halloween textile that feels designed.
  • cat lover gift tote bagsCat lovers often buy this outside of halloween season and stitch it in non-spooky thread colours.
  • felt ornament patchesCut from thick black felt it becomes a no-sew ornament or bag charm when backed with fusible web.
  • zip-up hoodie chest pocketFits on the chest pocket of a zip hoodie in the 2-inch size for a subtle seasonal piece.
  • Halloween party favour bagsOn small kraft paper bags with solvy topping it makes embroidered treat bags for halloween parties.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
