I get messages all the time from customers who are kinda just looking for something halloween that works for a book club or a school librarian, not full spooky, more witchy-but-cosy. Thats exactly where this one came from. The hat balances on top of a stack of three books and it genuinely just reads well even at smaller hooping sizes, Im genuinely fond of how the stacked volumes turned out.

Technically its 21,836 stitches at density 394 across 12 colour stops, which is alot of colour change work for a 2.45" wide piece. The satin on the book spines uses directional fill changes between each volume, so the colours feel distinct and layered. Run light cutaway under anything knit or stretchy, the density here is too high for tearaway to hold on those fabrics. On woven cotton or canvas, tearaway is fine and cleans up quickly.

Send it onto a teacher's tote, a librarian's lanyard pouch, or a book-lover's halloween shirt. The tall vertical format means it also works well on a bookmark, hoop some heavy interfacing and satin-stitch the edges for a quick gift project. Stitch a few of em in a row on a long canvas strip aswell, theyre compact enough at 2.45" that you can fit three across a standard fat quarter.

Digitised in the software I use, comes in all 8 machine formats. Reach me if you're recieving any file error or need a format adjustment and Ill get that sorted out quickly. Send me a chat if the file misbehaves and Ill rework the punch.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Librarian lanyard pouch frontFabric bookmark sewn onto heavy interfacing, trim the edges and bind with a ribbon loop at the top.
  • Halloween bookmark satin projectCanvas craft bag in a row repeat, the narrow width lets you fit three placements across a standard fat quarter.
  • Spooky reading pillow coverFitted grey tee left chest for a book club halloween night, cutaway on jersey keeps the satin spine detail flat.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
