Its all done in one colour. Just black, thats it. And it realy works. The womans profile faces left, strong clean jawline, long hair flowing right and down. Inside all that hair theres a bunch of butterflies stitched as negative space, so theyre white butterfly shapes punched out of the solid black fill. Kinda like a shadow box, or one of those papercut pieces you see at art markets.

Below the hair the design opens into dandelion puffs and wild grass stems. Theyre loose and airy sitting against the solid silhouette above. The whole composition is tall and slightly portrait shaped, 3.51 inches across max to 7.51 inches at the biggest, with 36k stitches in 1 colour. No thread swaps, no colour changes at all, your machine runs it straight through without stopping. Honestly its one of the cleanest single-colour designs Ive made.

I made this one with wellness studios and art galleries in mind. A customer who runs a small yoga studio in Portland ordered the 6.5-inch version last autumn and had it stitched across a set of linen tote bags for her clients. She said people kept asking where the bags came from, which is exactly what you want.

Use a firm tearaway on woven fabrics. Linen, cotton twill, canvas all work gorgeous here. Avoid knits and jersey because the satin fill density at the larger sizes, around 34k stitches at 6.5 inches, needs stable ground. Pick your thread colour carefully, black on navy is subtle and moody, black on white or cream is the most graphic read. Skip busy prints entirely, this design cant compete with a noisy background.

Pair the large 7.51-inch on a canvas tote or a linen cushion cover for the boldest result. Ping me if anything looks off when you stitch it out, I can check the file same day.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Yoga studio linen tote bagsStitch the 6.5-inch on a natural linen tote for a yoga or wellness studio retail shelf, sells really well without looking overly commercial.
  • Art gallery gift shop teesEmbroider on a white cotton tee for an art gallery gift shop and keep the whole look minimal with the design centred on the chest.
  • Womens fashion boutique cushionsHoop the large size on a cream linen accent cushion for a womens boutique or home studio and frame it with plain piping.
  • Bridal party canvas pouchesUse the 4.5-inch on small canvas pouches for a bridal party welcome gift, monogram the back with each guests initials.
  • Wellness retreat welcome bagsAdd the medium design to jute welcome bags for a wellness retreat and pair with lavender or rosemary sprigs tucked inside.
  • Framed hoop wall art for home studiosFrame the 5.5-inch in a painted white hoop and hang it in a home art studio or reading nook as a quick wall piece.
  • Book club personalised totesStitch on a canvas tote personalised for each member of a womens book club, works equally well in black on white or charcoal on oatmeal.
  • Feminist art market merchandiseSell on art market tee shirts or tote bags at a feminist or womens empowerment market stall, the silhouette reads clearly from a distance.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
