Cooked up this oak leaf and the shape took a while to nail, theres a lot going on with the lobe silhouette and getting the jagged edges looking like an actual oak leaf rather than a generic blob. Its a wide horizontal leaf with deep rounded lobes cut into the sides, sitting at a slight diagonal so it reads like it just drifted down from a tree. Fill is a warm golden yellow across the whole body with warm tan vein columns running out from the spine to each lobe tip.

Density comes in at 623 spi count delivering is on the higher end, and the largest 3.59 by 6 inch version reaches around 13,400 stitches. The directional fill in my main software shifts angle as it moves into each lobe so you get light catching differently across the sections, its kinda what gives it that botanical quality instead of looking flat. Vein lines use a slightly darker amber thread so they contrast against the golden base without jarring against it.

Email from a customer last autumn said she used the 3 inch piece on a set of fall napkins for her dining table and her guests kept asking where she got them. She did the fill in gold thread on cream linen, and honestly the contrast is exactly what I had in mind when I set the palette up. Works really well on natural fabrics.

Use a medium to heavy cutaway stabiliser, the density demands it on anything lighter than a mid-weight cotton. Felt and denim also work. Light silks or loose weaves wont hold the fill flat and youll get gapping between the lobe sections.

Sizes go from 1.8 by 3 inches up to 3.59 by 6 inches. Stitch at normal speed and hoop firmly so the wide horizontal silhouette doesnt shift mid-run. Trim the stem thread close after finishing, theres a short one on the underside that can catch. Email me through the order if the lobes are gapping mid-fill and Ill help you figure out the right stabiliser weight.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
