Vertical sunflower design with 'You Are My Sunshine' cursive text stem, 5 sizes 4 to 8 inch, orange thread and black thread. Stitched this one out as a vertical layout which is a bit different from how most sunflower designs sit. The sunflower is only the left half, petals fanning out, a dark seeded centre, the whole thing in orange. Then hanging below like a botanical stem is the phrase in curling cursive script, in black. Small heart shapes scatter off the side of the text. Its vertical so it fits naturally on a shirt cuff, a narrow tote strap panel, places where a wide horizontal wouldnt go. Two colours. Done.

1 colour change, 5 sizes. Stitch counts from the keyring run scaling up to 23,180 at the 8 inch. Thats a fair chunk of thread at the top end so budget accordingly. Use a stabiliser that holds well horizontally since the orange sections use satin along the petal edges with a directional fill in the centre. Pick medium tearaway for woven cotton, cutaway for knits. Avoid dark backgrounds unless you run a white underlay first under the orange.

A customer sent me a photo last week of this on a cream linen tea towel and it looked exactly right. Im suprised how often people use this for mum birthday gifts aswell as weddings and baby showers. Run the 4 inch on a pillowcase cuff, the 8 inch fills a shirt front or kitchen towel panel. Text me if you want advice on underlay settings for your machine.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
