Kitchen towels were made for this one. I been hooping linen and cotton terry for years and honestly a bold text design like this sits better on a flat-weave linen panel than almost anything else I make. The lettering here is a mix of chunky cobalt block caps for "Opinion," a swirly cursive blue "Your" up top, then "is not" in this upright warm-orange italic that matches the big orange "Recipe" swash at the bottom. "Part of the" sits in the middle in smaller cobalt blue, kinda bridging the two styles. Add a golden-yellow slotted spatula down the left side, a small yellow daisy near the top, and a blue-and-yellow wildflower spray on the right, and its a proper full composition, not just words floating around.

Stitch-wise this is a medium-density piece, density around 517, so it builds up real fast on lighter fabrics. I run a cutaway stabiliser on anything with stretch, but for woven cotton or linen ya can get away with a tearaway if ya hoop it firm. The 5 inch version drops right in the centre of an apron bib with room to spare on both sides. Ive had a bunch of craft-fair sellers order this on aprons specifically cause customers alot of times buy them as "i cook, stay out of my way" gifts for mums and aunties. Last week a customer wrote me saying she gave one to her sister-in-law and it sold out at her table same morning.

Use the underlay passes the design already has built in, they keep the satin columns on the letters from sinking into terry cloth. Skip any extra pull-compensation adjustments unless you're on a very stretchy jersey - its already accounted for in the digitising. Hoop snug, centre the spatula so it lands vertical on the left edge, and let the tatami fill across that big warm-orange bottom word at standard tension. A red bobbin thread for the orange sections reads cleaner on the back if someones ever gonna see the inside of the towel.

Give me a heads up if the fill looks too heavy for your cloth.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Kitchen linen towelThe 5 inch lands centred on a flat-weave linen panel without crowding the hemstitch borders.
  • Apron bibNeeds a firm tearaway under woven cotton duck fabric but runs clean across an apron bib front.
  • Canvas toteRuns clean across a zipped canvas tote front at 7 inches, reads well from a metre away.
  • Pot holder or oven mittUse a cutaway on the terry side of an oven mitt, the satin lettering stays crisp even after washing.
  • Pillow cover for kitchen nookStitch at 6 inch on a 14-by-14 cotton canvas cover for a kitchen chair cushion or window-seat pillow.
  • Sweatshirt or hoodieA fleece hoodie takes the 6 inch with a cutaway and medium topping, letters come out bold and clean.
  • Framed hoop giftThe 4 inch version fits a 6-inch wooden hoop with space for a gingham backing fabric behind.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
