Two colours, thats all this takes. Mid grey and black, and the digitising software built this portrait with gestural lines rather than solid fill areas, so it looks like a fashion illustration sketch more than a standard machine embroidery design. The hair flows down in long loose waves and the lines dont follow a grid, they follow the curve of the hair itself so it reads as movement. At 34k stitches on the biggest 4.22-inch size and over 14k on the smallest, theres still alot of thread work happening even without colour.

The face itself is minimal on purpose. Defined dark eyes with lash lines, full lips suggested by a few curved lines, the nose just barely implied. Its the kind of face that relies on line quality to work and the punch keeps those satin columns crisp at 1074 density. One colour change only between the grey and the black, 92 trims at from the petite 3 up to 103 at mid sizes. Clean stitch-out.

I made this for women who do fashion-forward personalised gifts, tote bags, pouches, silk scarves embroidered as custom commissions, that kind of thing. My niece does fashion design and she used the 3.5 piece on the front pocket of a linen jacket she made for her final year project last spring. The narrow aspect ratio, around 2 inches wide at the smallest, means it fits into tight spaces other portrait designs cant manage.

Hoop stable woven fabric tightly, the satin column hair sections need a firm base. Pair no-show mesh on linen or cotton twill, switch to a soft cutaway on jersey knit. Skip fleece completely, the fine hair lines will sink and lose definition. Email me if you want a version without the grey fill layer, some customers prefer it outline-only and I can share that variation with ya.

Behind every stitch

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
