Sketched this one as a sculptural bonsai-style maple tree. The trunk twists and curves dramatically, forking up into multiple branches like a real ancient bonsai shape. Woodgrain texture inside the deep walnut brown fill gives the trunk character, with darker shadow lines along one side for depth.

The canopy holds clustered leaf groups in layered orange, yellow and deep red. Each cluster reads as a soft cloud of colour with directional lines running inside suggesting individual leaves rather than a flat blob. At the base sits a small green grassy mound with scattered fallen orange and yellow leaves spread around it. Honestly thats my favourite touch.

I drew this for a customer last october who runs a tea shop and wanted something calm and zen for her front window display. Since then customers have been ordering it nonstop for autumn living room wall hangings, japanese garden themed pillow covers, and a couple of people have stitched it onto kimono style robes.

Comes in 5 from a 3.5 hoop wide 7.5 in max, almost square ratio so it works centred on most placements. Stitches run heavy at 15,850 to 43,546 because of the dense leaf cluster fills. Best on cotton, linen, canvas, twill, denim, lightweight wool. Skip stretchy knits, the dense canopy will warp them. Thats the only fabric Id avoid.

Use a heavyweight cutaway stabiliser, hoop tight. Slow the speed on the canopy sections where the directional fills change angles rapidly. Send me a message via the contact form if the file load gives trouble and Ill replace it same day usually. Heres the deal, no rush on your end. Ping me a chat if the download fails and Ill fix it fast. Send me a chat if the download stalls and Ill sort it fast.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Autumn wall hangingsFramed linen canvas wall hanging at the largest size for a hallway or reading nook, the bonsai scene holds the space quietly.
  • Japanese garden pillow coversKimono robe back for quiet october sunday mornings, the maple pairs with morning tea and says nothing that needs saying.
  • Kimono robe backsJapanese garden throw pillow in a square linen cover, the sculptural trunk reads well in a minimal living room corner.
  • Tea shop window displaysTea shop window display on canvas through october and november, the calm composition draws passersby through the glass.
  • Cabin throw blanketsBonsai collector gift apron on linen, medium size on the bib is thoughtful enough to feel like it came from a gallery shop.
  • October dinner table runnersLinen table runner ends for a japanese-styled october dinner table, the tree sits at both ends and frames the centrepiece.
  • Bonsai gift apronCotton throw blanket corner accent for a cabin sofa, medium size gives the fleece a warm seasonal detail without dominating.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
