Its a fluffy little tabby kitten holding one paw up like its waving right at you. The paw sits in the foreground, slightly oversized the way kittens paws always look on their tiny bodies, and youll see every toe pad stitched in dark grey with that classic oval shape. Five colours: off-white base, light grey mid-tones, darker grey stripe markings, black outlines and nose detail, and two small pops of bright cobalt blue for the eyes. Baby cat paw designs dont usually have this level of fur detail at 5 colours.
The fur textures where most of the stitch count goes. Short directional fills run against each other across the chest and face so the coat catches light the way real fur does. Tabby stripe markings on the forehead and sides are laid in with darker grey satin runs angled to follow the body shape. Whiskers are single-run stitches so theyre fine and crisp instead of turning into blurry lumps. The ears have an inner pale glow common in light-coated cats and its picked up here with a lighter fill inside the ear outline, its the kind of small detail that makes it look real.
Stitch count on the biggest 7.38 by 7.5 inch version sits at 97,977 so youll want a medium to heavy cutaway stabiliser and a slower stitch speed. Float a layer of water-soluble topping on any textured or pile fabric so the whisker runs dont sink into the weave. Smaller sizes start at 3.44 by 3.5 inches, just big enough to read clearly on a patch or pocket. The cobalt blue eyes wont show properly at the three-inch size, so stick to four-inch and above if theyre the point for you.
Its popular on kids backpacks, canvas tote bags, zip pouches, jacket backs, and pet-themed pillows. I get orders for this one year round, Christmas especially from folks making gifts for cat people in their family. The grey-and-white palette holds well on cream, white, pale blue, dusty pink, sage green and even black denim. Avoid very dark grey or charcoal where the light fill tones disappear. Pop this on a white tee chest and the kitten sits right at eye level. Hit me if a colour run comes out muddy or a whisker line skips and Ill send a corrected version.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Kids backpack patch or iron-on accentStitch the four-inch size onto a plain canvas backpack as a centred patch and it reads clearly from five feet away on a school run
- Canvas zip pouch for a cat-lover giftUse the medium size on a zip pouch, pair it with a ribbon pull in cobalt blue to match the eye colour, and it makes a sharp cat-lover gift
- Jacket back panel or sleeve badgeCentre the large version on a denim cropped jacket back and the dense fur fills hold up well through regular washing with a cutaway base
- Pet-themed throw pillow centreEmbroider the six-inch on a cream linen pillow cover and the grey-and-white palette keeps the whole thing feeling calm rather than cartoonish
- Baby onesie chest detailPlace the three-and-a-half inch on a white cotton onesie chest for a baby shower gift that skips the usual boring duck prints
- Tote bag front panel for a cat ownerStitch the medium on a heavy-duty tote, add a name below in a simple font, and you have a personalised pet-owner bag
- stretched hoop display for nursery wallMount the finished hoop on a pale sage mat and frame it for a nursery wall where the raised paw reads as the kitten waving hello
- Pet portrait keepsake cushionEmbroider on a soft velvet cushion in cream or blush and gift it to someone who recently lost a pet as a gentle keepsake

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
