Mocked up this one for october last year and it became one of the most requested repeats in my shop. Its the concept thats doing the work here, a cat wearing a ghost costume, basically. The ghost sheet drapes over the whole cat so ya only see the little ears peeking through the top of the fabric, and four tiny paws sticking out at the bottom hem. Two wide oval eyes on the ghost face finish it off.
Single black thread, no colour stops, which means your bobbin stays loaded and the machine just runs. 4 sizes from 2.51 inches up to 5.51 inches, stitches ranging from 3,622 to 9,408. The density is 468 points, a bit higher than average for this stitch range, so I'd recommend a medium-weight woven cutaway stabiliser to keep the lines sharp. Topping isnt needed on most quilting cotton.
Add a bright red or white thread for a different effect, the design is digitised so the satin borders read clearly in any high-contrast colour combo. Pair with a cutaway on cream linen for a pillow that reads as a trick-or-treat photo prop, or run the 3.65-inch size on a navy onesie and the cat ears pop even on ribbed cotton.
One customer grabbed this as a last-minute halloween order and asked me to confirm the download was instant, it is, ya get the files straight after checkout. Ping me a quick note if anything looks off and Ill get it fixed for you. Skip dark fabric for the colour pop. Pop a firm cutaway behind stretch knits.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Trick-or-treat canvas bag with the cat peeking out like its ready to go collect candyUse the 5.51-inch size on natural canvas, black thread, cutaway backing, sits centred on the front panel with room for a name below.
- Cream linen pillow for a Halloween photo prop station at a kids partyRun the 4-inch file on oatmeal linen with a stable medium cutaway, press flat after stitching to keep the pillow cover wrinkle-free.
- Baby onesie with navy fabric and white thread for an October newborn costumeHoop the 2.51-inch size on ribbed cotton with a light cutaway backing, white 40wt thread on navy gives strong contrast without bleeding.
- Matching set of treat bags for siblings who both love catsStitch 3 bags side-by-side on a single wide piece of canvas, cut and sew after, saves hooping time significantly.
- Iron-on patch on a denim jacket for a subtle Halloween wardrobe additionStitch on twill fabric with tearaway stabiliser, then cut and press iron-on backing on the reverse before applying.
- Framed hoop wall art in a craft room that stays up year-round because it just looks goodMount on a 6-inch wooden hoop with natural cotton, black thread, display with a small ghost ornament for seasonal craft room decor.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
