So this is the cat watching sunset design and its got that proper retro woodcut feel to it. The longhair cat sits in tall grass with its back to you, head tilted up toward a giant orange sun thats sinking behind a round horizon. You get the silhouette of the cats fluffy tail, the bare tree branches off to the left, all rendered in that old-school print look.

The colour story is dope. Deep purple sky up top, then it shifts down through burnt orange and mustard yellow round the sun, and a band of rust red lines through the lower half. Directional stitching does most of the work here, every line angled to follow the shape its filling. Cat fur runs vertical, sun rays radiate out, sky lines run horizontal. Reads like a printed poster from like 30 years ago.

I drew this one for the cat people who like a bit of mood. Not cutesy cartoon cats, more the artsy type. A customer last week asked if she could put it on a band tote and honestly it'd look sick on black canvas. The 10-colour palette stays moody even on darker fabrics, and theres no neon to clash.

Stitches run from 32k up to 66k across 9 sizes (4.5 inches wide for the smallest, 8.5 inches for the biggest), so pick your size based on garment. the software I use digitised, 1 colour change keeps the thread swaps reasonable considering the layered look. Use a solid cutaway stabiliser, the density is around 917 sti/cm2 which packs in tight and you dont want puckering.

Stitch on cream, oatmeal, or charcoal jersey for the strongest contrast. Skip neon or busy patterns, the design already carries alot of visual weight. Ping me if the file misbehaves on your machine and I'll get you a fresh copy.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Black canvas tote bagsCentre the design on a black cotton tote, the rust and orange tones really pop on dark fabric.
  • Oatmeal sweatshirt back panelsRun it big across an oatmeal sweatshirt back, scale to 7.5 inches for proper visual weight.
  • Charcoal jersey tee chest hitsDrop a 4.5-in detail on a charcoal tee left chest, keeps the moody print-poster feel intact.
  • Cream linen wall hoopsHoop a 6 inch size on cream linen for a wall display, frame it natural wood for that gallery look.
  • Denim jacket back patchesStitch the largest 8.5-inch chest for denim jacket back panel, use cutaway and slow the speed down.
  • Cushion covers for reading nooksA 5 inch size works on cushion covers, pair two pillows to flank a reading chair nicely.
  • Cat lover gift setsPop into a cat-themed bundle with a small applique paw print, customers love giftable sets.
  • Pet memorial keepsake piecesUse this on a memorial cushion or framed hoop, the sunset reading suits remembrance pieces well.

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
