The cat is basically the star of this design, not the tree. Big fluffy white body done in loose sketchy satin stitches, the kind that look hand-drawn rather than digitally clean. The strand of fairy lights wraps around the cats middle and trails off to the side like it just got bored halfway through decorating. Red bulbs, green bulbs, and the santa hat on its head is a proper red with a white pompom at the tip. Three colours total, which is honestly whats keeping this from getting fussy.
The christmas tree to the right is more of a prop. Decorated with red and green baubles, star at the top, sitting in a dark pot. The cats clearly more interested in the lights than the tree. And thats what makes it work, that whole did-the-cat-help-decorate energy is a real thing cat people recognise immediately.
I drew this for a customer who runs a small pet accessories stall at winter markets. She wanted something that read as christmas without being generic, and a cat tangled in lights is about as specific as you can get. Came in at 19k stitches on the biggest 6.26-inch size and only 9k on the smallest, so it stitches out quick even on a busy december schedule.
Best on oatmeal, cream or pale grey backgrounds so the white cats body actually shows up. Stitch this on a medium midweight cutaway behind on woven or linen. Pair the small 3 in on a tote pocket. Pop the big 6.26-inch size on a fleece blanket or sweatshirt back. Skip black fabric because the white satin fill really needs a contrast ground to show up. Dont push it on dark jersey either, same reason. Holler at me if the file looks off in your software and Ill sort it same day.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
