Mocked up this pair after Ive had alot of customers asking for a gnome design with two characters instead of one. Its two gnomes side by side, the taller one is abit wider at the body, both have forest green pointed hats, long cream beards hanging nearly to their feet, and tan earthy bodies with stubby arms visible at the sides. 13 colours total, density at 932, 5 sizes going from 3.5 inches wide 7.5 wide reach, stitch range from 20015 at the small end to 51797 at the full size. Thats a solid amount of thread for the big version, particularly in the beard sections which run in parallel satin columns.
my embroidery software gave me precise control over the hat underlay passes to keep the forest green sitting flat and dense. The beard columns use directional fill at a slight tilt so they look soft and fluffy rather than stiff. Add firm cutaway woven linen or natural cotton tea towel fabric, these materials have enough body that a tearaway will still shift slightly under the pull of 51797 stitches at the largest size. Dont skip the underlay on those hat sections even on the smaller sizes.
One customer ordered the 5-inch file to stitch on a set of kraft tea towels she was making as christmas gifts for her whole family, she ran 6 of them and suprised everyone at christmas dinner. I get that kind of feedback alot with this type of design, the paired character makes it feel more festive than a single figure. Add a water-soluble topping on any heavily textured linen so the beard detail doesnt get swallowed by the weave.
Stitch both gnomes on a wide tea towel for a kitchen christmas display. Pop the 4-inch size onto a canvas apron bib for a quick seasonal gift. Use the 7.5 reach file on a table runner centred between two place settings. Run the small 3.5-inch version on felt for a hanging ornament or gift tag. Best on natural kraft and oatmeal fabrics where the earthy tan bodies read well. Avoid very pale cream or white base fabrics since the beard colour washes out completely.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Christmas tea towel sets as family giftsThe 5-inch version fills a standard tea towel centre panel without crowding the border edges.
- Holiday kitchen aprons and mittsStitch on a canvas apron bib at the 4-inch size for a gift that someone will actually use all christmas season.
- Festive table runners centred displayThe 7.5-inch file centred on a table runner between two candles makes a proper christmas table display.
- Matching couple or sibling christmas giftsRun the same design on two items in slightly different colourways as a paired gift for a couple.
- Felt hanging ornaments or gift tagsCut felt into 3x4 inch rectangles, hoop the smallest size, and punch a hole for hanging ribbon.
- Christmas pillow covers in linenNatural linen pillow covers carry the largest size well with the earthy colour palette sitting quietly.
- Tote bags for holiday marketsCanvas tote bags at the 5-inch size work well as festive bags for a christmas market stall.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
