Worked up this greyhound last spring after a customer who breeds sighthounds wanted something for her whole litter of Christmas hoodies. The thing that makes greyhounds different to stitch is the silhouette, its all about that long narrow body and those impossibly thin legs. You dont fill them in heavy, ya let the shape do the work. So the density here is only 200, which is intentional. Lean satin fill on the body, lil bulb shapes strung along the lights strand in 7 colours total.
Built in the digitising software, 5 sizes ranging from 3.5 x 1.86 inches right up to 7.5 x 3.98 inches. Stitch count is lighter than it looks, 2,930 at the small end and 5,966 at the large end, because the design is mostly outline and low-density body fill. That actually makes it really forgiving on lighter fabrics like sweatshirt knit. Use a light cutaway stabiliser and youre sorted. Tear-away works too on a stable knit if ya prefer less bulk.
Drop it on a charcoal or slate-grey sweatshirt and those multicolour bulbs pop beautifully, red, green, yellow, blue against the dark background is exactly the christmas vibe without being overwhelming. Pair it with a simple text block underneath if you want to add the dog's name. Add to a cream canvas bag aswell for a really clean look.
Greyhound people are a lil obsessive about their breed (I mean that in the nicest way, theyve got fan clubs), this sells well as a gift for that crowd. Drop me a note if theres any problem with the file.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Christmas sweatshirts for greyhound ownersCharcoal sweatshirt knit is the ideal base, the tan and multicolour bulbs read really clearly against dark fabric.
- Holiday gifts for sighthound breed loversA customer hooped the 7-in size on a fleece blanket as a breed-specific Christmas gift for her trainer.
- Dog mum and dad festive tote bagsThe low stitch count means canvas totes dont pucker even without heavy stabiliser.
- Personalised pet stockings with breed-specific designPet stockings are usually felt or velvet, reduce speed and use a topping on anything with texture.
- Craft fair stock targeting the greyhound communityGreyhound rescue communities are loyal buyers, especially around November and December.
- Rescue charity fundraiser itemsRescue fundraiser totes sell fast when they carry a recognisable silhouette of the breed.
- Custom holiday cards with stitched insertsFor card inserts, stitch a 3.5 chest on cotton broadcloth and mount it into the card frame.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
