And theres a lot going on with this duck. The whole head is basically a firework of feathers going in every direction at once. Pink ones curl up top, green leaf shapes fan out mid-section, yellow spikes shoot sideways, and a hot pink flower sits right in the middle of the chaos like its completely normal. The duck itself has this wide-eyed expression thats somewhere between surprised and smug, stood in a lil puddle at the bottom with its feet planted like it owns the place.
23 colours sounds like alot but the industry tools digitising handles the transitions really cleanly. Youre looking at layered satin runs for the body, directional feather strokes that actually follow the curve of each plume, and tight underlay under the denser sections so nothing puckers on the hoop. The stitch range goes from about 18k at 3.5 inches up to nearly 48k on the 7-in chest size, so try a fusible no-show cutaway on anything thats gonna be washed regularly. Run a test on scrap first if youre new to 23-colour sequencing.
Ive had customers stitch this on kids backpacks, nursery quilts, carnival costumes, you name it. A customer last spring ordered 6 of the 6-inch size for a set of matching kids birthday party bags and said it was the most asked-about thing at the whole table. Stitch on white or cream fabric and every colour pops the way it should. Avoid busy prints because the feather details just disappear. Hoop tight and youll be fine.
