Its not a flat single-colour paw print. The pads carry four different pastel colours that overlap at the edges: a soft lavender, a bubblegum pink, a mint green and a warm orange-peach. They sit next to each other in irregular zones, not neat divisions, so it reads more like a painted effect than a colour-blocked design. Then a bold black outline in loose curved strokes forms the claw shapes on top, plus what looks like a small circular scribble detail above the main pad. Alot going on, but it holds together.

Each pastel fill region got its own underlay pass in the digitising. The density is 543, on the higher side for a 5-colour piece, so use soft cutaway on jersey and a firmer cutaway on canvas. That bobbin thread is gonna see alot of movement with 4 colour changes happening before the black outline even starts. Hoop your fabric firm and check your bobbin is wound to consistent tension before you run this one.

The black satin outlines for the claws run last and sit right on top of the fill, so that fill needs to be dense enough the black doesnt sink. At 543 density it is. The toe pad fills are also directional, each one running at a slightly different angle to the adjacent pad, which is what stops the whole thing looking like a flat blob. Thats a deliberate digitising choice and I spotted it last week when I was checking the stitch sequence before uploading.

One customer told me she was suprised by how much thread a 5-inch run uses, about 121 feet total on the smaller sizes, the large ones push close to 169 feet. Make sure youre not running on near-empty bobbins. Pair a 80/12 needle with this on denim or canvas and a 75/11 on cotton poplin.

Best on a smooth stable fabric so the pastel fill zones stay sharp and defined. Tote bags, dog bandanas, pet-themed cushion covers. Works on fleece too with a water-soluble topping.

What people are using this design for

A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

  • Dog and cat themed tote bagsThe 4-5 inch sizes centre well on a kids canvas tote, bright enough to signal the pet-lover theme immediately
  • Pet bandanas and kerchiefsScaled to the petite 3.5 the paw fits on a cotton bandana tied around a dog or cat neck for photos
  • Cushion covers for pet-lover giftsThe multicolour fill makes it a cheerful cushion cover motif for a pet-themed living room corner
  • Children's backpack front pocketThe 3.5-in run fits cleanly on the front pocket flap of a canvas children's backpack
  • Denim jacket pet-tribute patch areaThe bold black claw outlines scale well even on darker denim, the pastels hold against indigo fabric
  • Pet memorial framed embroideryStitched on natural linen and framed in a 6-inch hoop it makes a simple pet memorial piece
  • Dog grooming apron or smockCentred on an apron bib it identifies a grooming smock as pet-themed without any text needed

About the artist

Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site

Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.

That's the joy I work for.

The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
