Dandelion stem with the seed head at the top, the seeds spreading out and blowing away in a shape that forms a butterfly. Its a simple idea, probably the most photographed version of this concept in the whole embroidery world, but this one digitises cleanly and the seed filaments use fine individual stitches that actually look like dandelion seeds rather than a generic spray of dots.
2 colours, stitch count goes from 6,393 at the smallest to 12,317 at the large 5.5 inch wide size, the design is quite tall though going 7.5 piece at full size. Density sits at 299, pretty light, tearaway stabiliser is all youll need on most woven fabrics. 5 sizes, from 2.57 inches wide up to 5.5.
I get a lot of orders for this one for spring and early summer, people making garden-themed gifts, nature lover pieces, that kind of thing. One customer sent me note last may to say she stitched it on a light grey linen tote for her mum's birthday and it looked exactly right against the neutral fabric colour.
Stitch it in dark charcoal or black on white or cream, the contrast makes those fine seed strands pop. Or try warm tan thread on oatmeal linen, that combination has a softer botanical feel. Skip stretchy fabrics, the fine stitching on the seed detail works best on a flat stable woven surface.
Use it on a tote bag, a cushion, a small framed hoop piece. Its the kind of image that works for spring markets, nature-themed rooms, or as a seasonal gift for someone who loves gardens and butterflies.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Botanical garden tote bagsOn a natural linen tote in charcoal thread the dandelion seeds and butterfly form together look like a proper botanical print.
- Nature lover birthday giftsFor a nature lover birthday gift on a cream cotton shirt at the 4.5-in motif it has the right understated quality.
- Spring wall hoop artIn a 5 inch hoop on white linen it makes simple spring wall art for a botanical or garden-theme room.
- Bedroom cushion coversOn a plain bedroom cushion cover the tall 7 inch version fills the centre area well in a single calm thread colour.
- Gift pouches for plant loversStitched on a small linen or canvas drawstring pouch for a plant lover it makes a gift that looks thoughtful and personal.
- Linen tea towel decorAlong the corner of a linen tea towel in dark thread it adds a botanical detail that holds up through regular washing.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
