Worked up this paw design for people who wanted something with a bit more energy than a flat stamped paw. Its got these wild fur spikes shooting out from the edges, like the paw just slammed into fabric mid-stride. The toe pads sit raised and white against the black fill, and theres a salmon-peach underlay layer underneath that peeks through at the base of the fur strands. 3 colours total: peach, black, white.
The density is 959 on this one which is one of the higher numbers Ive worked with. At the 7.5 in size youre looking at 48,470 stitches and 80 trims, so this needs proper hooping. A lil tension mismatch shows up fast at this density. Use a firm cutaway stabiliser, no tearaway, and make sure the fabric is pulled taut before you start. my usual software took the 3-colour sequencing so the layering comes out clean without any bleed between the peach base and black fill.
One customer sent me a photo last march after hooping the 4.5 in file on a thick fleece hoodie. The fur spikes held their shape really well because the directional satin follows the spike angle outward from the pad centre. That radial underlay routing is what keeps the spikes from flattening on stretchy fabrics. Stitch the same way on cotton fleece and you'll get the same result.
Pop it on pet bandanas, dog coats, vet clinic uniforms, or a canvas tote for a dog mum. The 3.5 in version works on a shirt pocket or a lil collar patch. Run it in navy thread instead of black on pale denim for a slightly softer look. Best on cotton canvas, fleece, or heavy twill. Avoid thin voile or anything with alot of stretch and no backing.
Ping me a quick note if your machine stumbles on the trim sequence and ill look at the file for ya.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Pet bandanas and dog collar accessoriesThe spiky fur design stitches up well on cotton bandana fabric at the 3-in run with a light cutaway underneath.
- Vet clinic uniforms and grooming apronsThe bold black and white contrast reads clearly on dark scrub tops and grooming aprons.
- Dog mum tote bags and canvas shoppersThe 7.5-inch placement on a canvas tote has serious impact for anyone who wants a statement pet bag.
- Pet memorial pillow covers and keepsake hoopsWorks beautifully on felt or wool-mix pillow covers at medium sizes for a soft, textured keepsake look.
- Kids animal-themed backpacks and jacket patchesThe petite 3.5 file fits neatly on a backpack pocket or iron-on patch blank.
- Fleece dog blankets and pet bed coversThe density holds well on fleece when you use a cutaway stabiliser and topping, fur spikes stay crisp.
- Custom pet portrait framing paired with paw hoopPairs with a name hoop for a custom pet gift set for new dog owners.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
