I digitised this one with the distressed look baked in rather than added as a filter after the fact, which makes a big difference in how it stitches out. The edges of the stripes break and fray deliberately, the stars have a slightly worn quality to them, and the overall flag has that aged, weathered look like it's been through something. On fabric, especially darker backgrounds, it has a quality that clean flag designs just dont have. Its one of those cases where imperfect is exactly what you want, and the roughness of the distressed texture actually reads as intentional craftsmanship once its stitched.
Stitch and size data not available for this one so a test stitch on your intended fabric is a good idea first. The distressed edges mean the outer boundary of the design is irregular, which is normal and intentional. Thread count will be on the higher side since the distressing effects add fill complexity. Cutaway stabiliser is recommended even on woven fabrics here since the layered fill in the distressed sections benefits from the extra stability. Keep hoop tension firm.
This is really a dark-fabric design. It shines on a black or dark grey hoodie back, a dark navy jacket patch, or a charcoal canvas bag. A customer put it on a black denim jacket back and said every single person who saw it asked where the jacket came from, which is the best kind of feedback. Also looks great on a military green tote or a dark waxed canvas bag if you want the worn-in look to match the material.

What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Dark hoodie back placementDark hoodies are where this design gets the most attention, the rough distressed edges read as intentional and bold against black fabric.
- Black denim jacket back panelBlack denim jacket backs are a natural home for this, the aged flag quality pairs well with the worn character of denim.
- Military green tote bagMilitary green canvas totes carry the weathered look in a way that feels thematically consistent rather than random.
- Dark canvas bag center panelDark canvas bags with this on the center panel work well for outdoor markets and patriotic seasonal events.
- Patriotic cap with dark fabricStructured caps in dark fabric are a good use when a customer wants the distressed look at a smaller compact scale.
- Veteran appreciation shirtVeteran appreciation shirts often pair this with a name or unit text below, and the worn flag sets the right tone.
- Waxed canvas bag front patchWaxed canvas bags in dark brown or olive already have a vintage character that this flag design matches perfectly.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
