One-colour builds like this are actually more demanding to digitise than multi-colour builds because you cant use different threads to create contrast or separation. The butterflies here are built with fine satin wing sections, with short directional columns mimicking the vein structure of real wings. The heart body underneath uses a denser fill that sits at about 404 overall density, and the butterfly wings intentionally use a lighter column density so they visually lift off the heart shape. At 3.17 inches wide its 8,012 stitches and the 6.79-inch version is 20,585.
Pop a lightweight backer behind it. The satin wing columns are narrow and they need firm backing to keep the stitch edges crisp. On velvet or soft cotton I add a layer of water-soluble film on top so the fine wing satin columns dont sink into the nap. Dont rush the satin sections on this build, slow your machine to 550 SPM for the fine areas. A 75/11 sharp needle works well on most fabrics, go 70/10 if you want extra precision on very fine cotton or linen.
Ive had this design in the shop for a while now and one customer who sews handbags ordered it in january, put a 5-inch stitch on a black leather-look vinyl bag front. She said the single-colour design on the matching black vinyl had this subtle tonal quality that looked really sophisticated. Thats the interesting thing about stitching black on black, the sheen difference between thread and fabric creates contrast that reads beautifully in person. Skip white or very pale backgrounds if you want that look, a black-on-black stitch reads better with some drama behind it.
Try it on dark denim, black canvas tote bags, navy fleece throws, or deep-coloured cushion covers. Stitch the full 6.79-inch version on a canvas cushion if you want something that reads as room decor rather than just an apparel motif.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.

- Dark denim jacket chest or backThe 4-inch version sits cleanly on a dark denim jacket chest area or back yoke.
- Velvet cushion covers and home decorLarge velvet cushion covers in navy or forest green carry the single-colour design beautifully.
- Framed hoop art for bedroom wallsFrame the 6.5-inch version in a dark wooden hoop for a nature-inspired wall display.
- Navy or black fleece throwsThe heart and butterfly motif works well centred on a folded fleece throw as a decorative panel.
- Tote bags and market bagsCanvas market bags in dark colours show the satin wing detail with a strong contrast finish.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
