Spider lilies are one of those flowers that most people recognise instantly but cant always name. The long arching stamens, the backward-curling petals. Its a dramatic shape in real life and it translates well into machine embroidery. This design has 4 colours: deep crimson petals, rose pink inner shading, cream stamen filaments and dark green stem. The stitch count is 13,829 at 3.51 inches wide and 31,694 at the full 7.51 inch size, with a density of 572 which keeps the satin petals smooth and not too stiff on the fabric surface.
And the best part about this one is how well it works on silk and satin fabric. The satin stitch on the petals uses a smooth directional underlay that lets the thread sheen show through if youre sewing on a glossy substrate. Heres the important thing about running floral satin designs on delicate fabrics: always use a water-soluble topping, especially on silk, because otherwise needle perforations along fill edges show as rows of holes. Add a cutaway stabiliser on the back for anything that will be washed. The stamen curves run as a narrow column stitch, check your tension on those or theyll pull sideways during the job. Pair this with a coordinating crescent or leaf design to build alot of visual interest on a table runner or jacket panel.
One customer ordered alot of spider lily designs for a Japanese-themed wedding last autumn, she combined this with a crescent moon motif on silk organza table runners and the red against ivory fabric was genuinely striking. The 5 inch size worked best for her table placement. Use the 7.51 inch size on the back of a lightweight jacket or on a cushion panel where the full stamen arc can spread out properly at scale.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Silk blouse or kimono sleeve accentUse the 4-in build on a silk blouse sleeve, water-soluble topping prevents needle marks on delicate silk.
- Floral themed wedding table runnerThe 5 inch version centres well on a table runner, satin petals catch candlelight beautifully.
- Japanese style cushion cover panelCentre the 6-in build on a cushion panel, cutaway stabiliser keeps the satin fill firm over time.
- Botanical wall hoop art displayHoop at 7.51 inches with cotton muslin backing and frame in a 9-inch hoop for wall display.
- Lightweight jacket back panelStitch the 7.51 inch version on a lightweight jacket back, firm cutaway stabiliser recommended.
- Linen sachet or lavender bagThe small 3.51 inch size fits a linen sachet front perfectly, tearaway lifts clean from stable linen.
- Floral greeting card fabric insertUse the 3.51 inch size on a fabric card insert, iron-on stabiliser keeps the piece flat after framing.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
