Drew up this swirl tree and its nothing like a traditional christmas tree outline. Theres no trunk, no triangle shape, just a big flowing mass of curling vines and botanical leaves all arranged to read as a tree. The red five-point star sits right at the top, small and solid, and below it the whole design kinda fans out through looping ribbon curves and directional leaf stitching in 2 different greens.
3 colours total, which keeps the thread swap count low. You get the bright red for the star and ribbon loops, a lighter dark green on the satin column vines, and a deeper forest green for the tatami-fill leaves. The leaves themselves have directional stitching on em so they dont look flat, each one has a slight angle that gives it some dimension. Stitch range is 9,117 to 19,193 depending on size.
Comes in 4 sizes from 3.5 inches tall up to about 7.5 inches. I get messages every christmas season about this one from customers who want a lil something different from the usual tree shape. One customer sent me a photo last december of it stitched on a navy linen tote and honestly it looked like alot of effort even though its only 3 colours.
Back stretch fabric with cutaway, tearaway works on cotton, denim or canvas. The vine sections are satin column so density is moderate, around 490, but the bigger sizes have 49 trims so just make sure your bobbin is loaded before you start. Skip thin silky materials, the satin columns need something with body to hold em crisp.
What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Christmas holiday tshirtsCentred on a white or cream cotton tee it reads as a botanical print rather than a standard christmas motif, which makes it popular with adults who want subtle holiday wear.
- Festive tote bagsStitched large on a dark navy linen tote the three colour combination pops cleanly without needing any backing fabric or special prep.
- Holiday throw pillow coversA medium size on a cream or oatmeal pillow cover turns a plain cushion into a christmas accent piece that works in any living room palette.
- Christmas table runnersRun the smallest size in a repeating row along the hem of a table runner on white or sand linen for a delicate holiday table setting.
- Seasonal linen napkinsA small version in the corner of a linen napkin adds just enough christmas detail to a dinner table without being overwhelming.
- Gift wrap fabric pouchesStitch the smallest size on a muslin drawstring pouch to wrap small gifts in a way that feels more personal than store bought wrapping.
- Christmas sweatshirtsCentred on the front of a dark green or burgundy sweatshirt the red and green palette plays off the fabric colour in a way that feels really intentional.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
