Its just black and white, 2 colours only, but theres kinda a lot going on inside those wings. The bat shape is a classic wide-outstretched silhouette, wings spread flat, head in the centre, and white filigree scrollwork fills every inch of the body. Curling vines, teardrop loops, swirling flourishes, the kind of pattern you see on Victorian lace or wrought iron gates. Wilcom digitised the dense tatami fill first, then the white lines run on top as fine satin columns. Up close it looks like lace applique, not thread at all.
Density sits at 1,014 on the medium size, which is genuinely dense for a 2-colour piece, and thats really really the point. The tight tatami packs that foundation layer flat so the white filigree lines sit proud on top without sinking in. Wilcom mapped the white pass in two separate layers, one for the main scroll runs and one for the finer detail loops, so the directional stitching actually follows each curl rather than just crossing at random. I been digitising this style for gothic boutique clients for a few years, my most recieved request last autumn was for exactly this kind of ornamental lace-on-black look. This file is honestly one of the cleaner ones Ive done in terms of coverage.
Best on black or charcoal fabric. Try it on a black velvet hair clip backing, a black canvas crossbody bag, black denim, or a gothic bridal garter. Skip any fabric with texture or nap, velour and waffle knit will bury those fine white scroll lines. Use a tearaway stabiliser on woven fabric and cutaway on stretch. Hoop with the grain or the tatami fill will pull slightly off-square. The 4.50-inch wide size works on a jacket back yoke or a bag front panel, the smallest 3.50-inch fits a pocket square or a clutch face.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
