The contrast here is the whole point. Solid black satin on the face and hair, then open flower outlines sitting right on top of the fill, white against the dark background. Density hits 483 which is substantial for a 2-colour piece, so youre going to want a firm cutaway stabiliser underneath, especially under the hair area where the long satin runs are. A floating or sticky-back method works well if youre hooping something like a structured bag panel.
Stitches range from 7,105 at the 3-in mark size up to 18,035 at the top 7.5 version. 2 colour stops only, so thread changes are minimal. Wilcom laid out the sequencing so the solid fill goes first and the flower outlines drop over as a second pass, which is why the result looks more like a print than a stitch. Pick a tight-weave fabric like poplin or denim and youll get clean satin edges all the way round. Use a 75/11 needle on woven cottons, step up to an 80/12 on denim.
A customer who does branded merchandise told me last month she runs this on natural canvas totes as a regular shop item. The lil flower outlines on the crown are what people comment on most. Stitch the satin base first at full speed, then slow down by about 20% for the outline pass over the fill so you dont get needle deflection on the thick satin surface. Run the smaller 3.5-in build on a pocket square and pair it with a matching linen bag at the larger 7.5-inch size for a coordinated gift set.

What people are using this design for
A starting point. The design works for plenty more than just this list, this is what folks have stitched it onto most.
- Fashion tote bags in canvas or cottonLeather diary cover with a 3.5-inch version stitched before binding; the black satin on tan leather is a sharp combination.
- Denim shirt back panelDenim jacket back panel at the 7.5 top. The sweeping hair tail fills vertical space cleanly without needing any secondary element.
- Zip pouch front panelGrandma's quilt centre patch, solid black on pale cream cotton, reads as a proper portrait piece from across the room.
- Velvet evening bagVelvet needs heavier underlay first; I run a zigzag base at 50 percent density before the top satin pass on velvet evening bags.
- Cushion cover centrepieceA makeup bag front panel in black canvas, 5-inch mid-size; the graphic silhouette suits the fashion context naturally.
- Branded event merchandiseHolds shape on stretch fabrics with proper cutaway backing; tested it on a ponte knit shirt front and the satin edges stayed clean.
- Linen apron bib areaOxford shirt cuff at a 3-in mini version, the slender profile silhouette fits the narrow cuff panel without clipping.

About the artist
Reyazul Masud Riham, hand-drawing every design on this site
Every design on Re Embroidery is hand-digitized by one person. Each file gets sketched, color-matched, and stitch-tested on real fabric before it earns a place in the shop. No team. No auto-conversion from images. Just slow, deliberate work, sometimes three or four days per design.
That's the joy I work for.
The hard part is finding my designs re-uploaded and resold elsewhere. So when you buy from Re Embroidery, you're paying one real person for the file you're about to download. That matters.
